This makes me wonder who owns Lindsey Graham

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Given the physical position of Greenland? Russia.

Obviously Russia.

Graham said the United States’s longstanding European allies should stop worrying about Trump seizing Denmark’s sovereign territory, arguing Trump has achieved the assurances he needs to build up a major U.S. military presence on the vast island.

“If you’re nervous, have a beer, go see a doctor. Stop being nervous,” he quipped. “The point is everybody loves NATO. I love it more because people are doing more,” he said, referring to increased defense spending by NATO’s European members.

Tell you what bud, drag Trump, Miller, Hegseth, Noem, Kennedy and Bondi onto a stage in handcuffs and give each one a bullet in the head, televised to the world.

And then reload the gun and eat it.

Then I'll crack a beer.

I was watching a video on the significance of Greenland in regard to it's strategic location and the fact that we already have agreements with our allies (for now) for the use of northern areas of Canada and Greenland for our defense and yet we still are demanding ownership has me thinking that this might be "necessary" for Republicans to do because they're going to eventually cut ties completely with Europe and become even more antagonistic.

:/

Greenland is very rich in rare earth minerals and water. That's why Trump wants it.

[–] HermitBee@feddit.uk 1 points 3 hours ago

It's his 80th birthday soon, and a country is the very best birthday present you can get. That's why Trump wants it.

The minerals thing is why Trump's handlers want it.

[–] Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

And because it's sort of close, an easy target, and he's obsessed with a legacy. Also because he sucks

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

He didn’t care about that. He wants to draw on the map with a sharpie.

[–] seathru@quokk.au 2 points 9 hours ago

And it's a strategic naval route for Russia that they would love a friendlier, non-EU, entity to be watching over. That's why Putin wants Trump to have it.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 19 points 10 hours ago

Shut the fuck up, Lindsey.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Just what do the Republicans have on Lindsey? It has to be more than just the fact that he's gay.

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 5 points 7 hours ago

Yeah he gives me the ick something fierce. He's definitely done inappropriate things with young under-age boys.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago

It's that he's a weak, simpering fool.

[–] Steve@communick.news 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Rump and some others in his administration seem to.
At least until he didn't anymore.

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Orange Discount Hitler’s billionaire bankrollers want it so they can build their end-of-the-world bunkers there. Not sure why they don’t want their New Zealand ones anymore.

Unfortunately, since it’s the billionaires that want it, and Slimy Orange wants to do them favors so he can rub shoulders with them and feel important, he won’t just let it go, even if the GOP pressures him to. Expect him to make a serious push for it.
