I've never understood why this theme became so popular in porn. But also, it's porn. If you're watching it for the plot, you should probably be watching something else.

But obviously, this is more about banning something than actually an issue with the porn. Oiling up that slippery slope.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 days ago

I think a lot of it is because it makes writing really easy. You don't need to come up with a reason for these two people to be near each other in an intimate setting, which they can easily turn into something more sexual. Not many people are watching for the plot, so they just need a bare bones contrivance for it taking place.

[–] MutantTailThing@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You never quit beating your meat mid-fap because the plot was just so captivating?

[–] circuitfarmer 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There was one that really stuck with me. This poor homeowner needed a plumber but she had no cash. It was a harrowing story of love and loss, and the climax was stunning.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did she end up getting her pipes cleaned?

[–] Thassodar@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago

Checked, cleaned, and re-caulked.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

Hey, that lamp is really nice...where can I buy it?

[–] Master@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

I think because in order to product the kink you need to set a ground base for story. A lot of people just want some sort of story instead of just straight into it.

I think incest / 'stepcest' stuff is largely popular because:

  • it can sprout innumerous plotlines, whereas most visual porn lacks story
  • the "domestic" nature of it means they don't have to shell out for multiple sets or fancy sets.
  • The idea of other people breaking laws and putting themselves in danger seems to add to the dopamine hit of porn. Which is mabe why some people consume violent stuff.
In my op it's popular with viewers largely because it is favoured by the studios.

I have to say though, from back in my porn watching days, i couldn't stand the weird production quality in all the step-incest stuff. And the compulsion to pair up performers who have a big age gap, or to make performers look like teenagers, is disturbing. I doubt these things have changed.

It's funny to imagine that the government might have a porn-Tsar who is just banning all the stuff they personally consider shite. Should have been me.

[–] circuitfarmer 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Porn-Tsar is my new favorite word.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

A new role for Neil Parish I think

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago

There's sex with some level of plot, and there's plot with some level of sex. It depends on which goal is greater for that movie or book. There is also a variety of degrees of porn plot, from bad to decent (with still the goal of being porn, but far more believable).

Are not-step-siblings still okay? Short of being admitted in the script, how does one know the relations? I guess the same validation as when the actress says she's 18, right?

[–] KickMeElmo@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

Families have inherent relationships built that can be nodded at without much conversation being necessary. Basically porn with plot without requiring as much plot.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

because actual parental incest would fire up America's family values.

[–] circuitfarmer 1 points 2 days ago

Don't look too closely at family trees in the Bible Belt.

[–] Pricklesthemagicfish@reddthat.com 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

There is a specific group that is in control of most of the porn websites. Lets just say they are super into it. For reasons.

[–] thatsnomayo@lemmy.ml -5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I cannot answer this without sounding completely insane, even after the Epstein files people still won't believe me. It's the same as the Spiderman Elsa videos. They are experimenting on kids at specific stages of development. Parents just let them do it. Why?

Also, you should be watching something other than people being coerced into selling consent for the act or the viewing. It's disgusting. You can have your nudes and tapes if people send them to you. That is not suitable entertainment for (de facto) all ages

Also I don't support anything the UK government does, this ban won't be effective, the prostitution industry has to be globally stamped out. Digital ID doesn't solve anything it's just building surveillance infrastructure they will use for more trafficking. The internet needs to become Chinese. Deny these basic facts if you wish, it only admits to not being serious about the issue.

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 9 points 1 day ago

Given that everyone's watching porn either on small sites flying under the UK radar or through a VPN/Tor now, what will this achieve exactly?

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 9 points 2 days ago

I do have a cause, though; it is obscenity. I'm for it. Thank you. Unfortunately, the civil liberties types who are fighting this issue have to fight it, owing to the nature of the laws, as a matter of freedom of speech and stifling of free expression and so on, but we know what's really involved: dirty books are fun! That's all there is to it. But you can't get up in a court and say that, I suppose.

Fuck these pieces of shit dude. Fucking stop with the protecting children talk. It's all lies.

In the UK? Home of the real-life incestuous monarchy? Is it unacceptable to pretend that non-blood relatives bang each other?

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Next up is sexual relations with neighbours, then friends and finally sexual relations altogether.

Thank a god we have people looking out for us! /s

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The only porn that will be allowed is between heterosexual married couples. And no peeking under the covers you perv! And don't forget the weekly renewal of your porn license!

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

Won't someone rid us of those pesky lemon-stealing whores?

[–] Gentryfried@feddit.uk 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I presume they're going to do this again and again knocking off a new category each time, and if so, I'd rather they spare us the slow march by just banning it all at once.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes the boiling frog approach. Now basically going to do it one at a time so they don't get too much pushback.

[–] Gentryfried@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

Governments can usually get away with whatever they wabt and the british government is the best example of this. I'd literally write a letter in and tell them they can get away with banning it all in one go if i thought they'd follow through on it.

But maybe there's another reason they do it in little chunks; one distraction headline becomes about 14 distracrion headlines, so lavour gov is safe to have 14 seperste scandals over the course of the next year or so

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

"Playing GTA will make you kill hookers and steal cars! Just like watching porn will make you commit incest and pedophilia!"

[–] GuyIncognito@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Oi! You got a loicense fer that stepmum?

[–] Denjin@feddit.uk 18 points 2 days ago

Step-prime minister, what are you doing?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oi! You got a license for that step-sibling?

It's in there somewhere, I was looking for it. Might need to check the other side.

[–] MushuChupacabra@piefed.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What are you doing, step-neighbor?

[–] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was thinking the same thing. It’ll be back to neighbors and brother’s best friend.

We’ve got Therians and MOGgers to replace the steps.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

Which is more believable anyway, so I'm not really sure why it changed.

[–] Xenny@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

It turns out this isn't a censorship ban or anything of the sort. The UK prime ministers are just tired of the unoriginality.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Isn’t that all porn? 🤣

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 days ago

what happens if two bro's swap semen and then their parents get married and they are step bro's but they stop the fucking, is that ok?

and who will be watching all this porn to check?

[–] 6stringringer@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

I don’t know how my sister is going to get fee pizza from now on. Damnit.

What are you doing, step-Baroness Bertin?
