Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Monarchs and dictators do that kind of shit all the time. It will be known as the former petro dollar.

[–] DonPiano@lemmy.ca 5 points 8 hours ago

Step 1: Collect short phrases capturing the dumbest and most heinous things he's done, and manufacture rubber stamps with said phrases.

Step 2:?

Step 3: Profit!

Will it be the same signature that was on the Epstein letter. I hate that.

Or will it be the one from his executive orders. I hate that.

[–] INHALE_VEGETABLES@aussie.zone 7 points 18 hours ago

If it helps, people elsewhere hate it there too.

Everything trump touches turns to shit.

The dollar is toast.

Make him sign them all manually.

This whole Iran arc is making me feel like crypto is eventually going to be more legitimate than the US dollar 💀

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 0 points 4 hours ago

In a way, some cryptos already are because they're more regulated in how new coins get created whereas the US can just print more dollars at will

I can't wait to make a scene at the grocery store demanding they give me change in real money.

[–] RidderSport@feddit.org 1 points 16 hours ago

In all seriousness, it would be hilarious of that were to happen all pver the country, completely eroding trust in the dollar.

Might I interest you in some juicy Euros?

[–] billybob@lemmy.zip 2 points 17 hours ago

We should all wipe our ass with it and then mail it to the White House

At the rate things are going, it may be cheaper to burn those bills for warmth this coming winter than it will be to pay the electric/gas/oil bills we're going to experience. Just sayin'.

[–] AniZaeger@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

18 U.S.C. § 333 says that's a crime punishable by fines, 6 months in prison, or both. I'm sure they'll probably consider that as 1 count for each piece of currency destroyed. Then they'll tack on more prison time for failure to pay the fines you can't afford because the government made your money worthless. Combine that with the 13th amendment loophole, and you've got yourself a cash cow primed and ready to be milked by the private prisons and staffing agencies of the good ol' US of A.

Ya know, Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" was supposed to have taken in 2026...

German hyperinflation might agree with you.

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

how do i fight the urge to burn trump dollars? I love dollars, but i hate trump with the fire of 1000 suns. I'm going to be so confused.

this is going to devalue the dollar massively

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Eeeww... pubic hair drawn on a dollar bill? Yuck.

[–] JailElonMusk@sopuli.xyz 232 points 2 days ago (20 children)

I'm impressed at their creativity in devaluing the dollar in a new way every day!

Disgusting. What a narcisist.

U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach said in a statement that printing Trump’s signature on the American currency “is not only appropriate, but also well deserved.”

The exact opposite of this is true.

What a great way to ensure all money is defaced and will cost extra to constantly reissue it.

I will be sure to write child fucker under his name on every note I see.

at $500B a month borrowing, that's a lot of signatures. It will keep him busy.

Makes me glad I almost never handle cash then.

Though if I do wind up with money with his name scrawled on it I'm gonna take it somewhere to trade it in with some nice, elaborate (but polite) commentary on the Orange graffiti.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Makes me glad I almost never handle cash then.

Was going to say...

Who even carries paper currency on them?

[–] DougHolland@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

People who don't necessarily want a public record of their every purchase.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

A pedo stamp on every bill. They really want to lose reserve currency status quickly.

Money shouldn't have anyone's signature. Such ugly vanity should be illegal.

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 2 points 21 hours ago

The signature of the president of the treasury that has always been on the bills had nothing to do with vanity, but with the president of the bank issuing the money guaranteeing the value of the money.

But who is going to trust the value of money guaranteed by Donald Trump?

Pretty sure its illegal but its less illegal than his face on it.
