For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
AIPAC is already simply using cutouts to hide where the money is coming from
So it was not only Russia influencing politics...
DNC will purge this guy too. Dinosaurs and their paymasters want blood.
I feel like politicians are completely unaware of the fact they can take money from everyone and still ignore them and vote the way they were elected to.
Like, lobbying is basically a targeted advertisement to politicians.
They act like advertisement is some kind of law they have to follow.
So their either morons or their deliberately corrupt. Either way, it ain't being good at their job. Any other job they'd be fired.
Why Kat Abughazaleh lost her race due to APIC spending in that primary. The person who got the nom took a ton of their money.
And it isn't going away. This is how our elected officials funnel our taxpayers money int their pockets. Why do you think they vote to give Israeli billions of dollars each year.
Daniel Biss says he didn't take any AIPAC money but was also not willing to denounce aid to Israel on the same level as Kat did. I haven't looked enough into whether or not he accepted shadow money from AIPAC, but its very telling that AIPAC celebrated his win over Kat even though their opebly funded candidate Laura Fine lost.
Laura Fine took a ton of AIPAC money to split the vote from Kat. They were also paying influencers $1500 a post to disparage Kat. She's Palestinian, so they threw millions against her in the final days of the race to ensure democracy didn't function.
but its very telling that AIPAC celebrated his win over Kat
He's not their friend, but she was openly their enemy. And they want to take credit for it, to maintain the sense that they call the shots.
They campaigned against Biss and I think he said he wants conditions on aid to Israel (which is currently unconditional).
This is not a win in any way for AIPAC, but the loss would have been bigger if Kat had won, which she nearly did, so I guess that's something?
I didn't realize they already had their primary. That's disappointing. I wanted to kick some money her way before the election. Too late now.
Yep, cut them all off. Any relationship with the Genocidal Israeli Government is a drag on votes, and Dems cant afford to squander a single vote by defending Genocide.
Right now, MAGA has the biggest Israel problem, by far. It's a good opportunity to widen that important gap between the parties, not close it.
They won't lose any votes. Many American Jews do not support Israel's genocidal behavior, and those that do were going to vote MAGA anyway.
Not allowing transparent front organizations representing racist political parties from foreign countries? Where might that end?
We might actually end up with a presidential administration that serves the needs of AMERICAN CITIZENS for a change.
NOT allowing Israel to Control your Countries finances? That's ANTI SEMETIC!
Netanyahu is definitely one of my least favourite US presidents, along with Putin.
It's actually anti-semitic for Israel to meddle in other nation's politics because ironically enough it affirms nazi propaganda about the world being run by a secret jewish cabal... add in the Epstein honeypot and one might be tempted to say it was true all along...
It's a fucking torment nexus.
it affirms nazi propaganda about the world being run by a secret jewish cabal
Except that Israeli manipulation of Western countries' politics is not at all secret. Netanyahu even brags about it.
It was secret for a time. Maybe an unspoken, open secret, but a secret you weren't supposed to talk about (remember when Ilhan Omar caught flack for calling it out?).
The Epstein honeypot and its israeli connection was a secret, until it wasn't...
And Netanyahu is an anti-semite, for the pure fact that he turns himmlerian propaganda into a self-fulfilling prophecy, and tries the attach the evil that the state of israel is committing to Jewish identity as a whole. That's literally anti-semitism.
Hope the AIPAC funding stops. Will it ? Who knows.
They're already contributing through pacs that hide contributions
Yeah, that should be outlawed.
Indubitably; but why would complicit, cowardly politicians cut off one of their most profitable funding spigots?
It's funny to me the Zionist mods have deleted this thread and locked comments yesterday, yet here we are! G-d bless slow federation!
If the Illinois race with Kat Abughazaleh is any indication AIPAC with use shell organizations to hide the source of the money.
Not if cuck Schumer had a say
If you're in his vicinity, you can hear the sound of moaning, licking and gobbling - as he worked his way through Netenyahu's boots and have started working his toes.
As one does when they lack a spine
As long as money has sway, someone will take their money.
DNC “You could say AIPAC’s arguments moved me to a BIGGER HOUSE……. I said the quiet part loud and the loud part quiet. Oh, dear.”
Let's strip away all the context here. No Israel. No U.S. no Democrats/Republicans.
Imagine I told you a fictional country, the United Grapes of Dumberica was formed.
Now imagine I told you that the government of this country had people from foreign governments both friendly and hostile giving them money.
In what logical universe would would that be legal?
Well i just create a law that says it's legal, and use the wages you earned as a productive member of society to fund the force of oppression against you. And if you dare say anything, I'll label you as a terrorist.
Pretty simple really.
Then I'll burst into any room and exclaim we are the greatest grapers in the entire world
You sound like a big grapist.
I just explained how the US government operates lol
Ok. I wasn't criticizing.
My bad. Apologies.
I forgot i set the joke up, and failed to capitalize on your continuation. I'm an idiot.
There's next time no worries.
Timing this a week AFTER Palestinian-American progressive badass Kat Abughazaleh lost her primary by just four thousand votes.
A primary where both the eventual winner and the third placed establishment favorite were supported by millions of dollars worth of AIPAC ad campaigns.
As they should. AIPAC funding is going to be the most toxic thing to any Democratic Party candidate's campaign this election cycle...
This is a giant waste of time.
A) Restricting AIPAC just means capital and influence will flow from other, more obscure sources. It's squeezing a closed tube of toothpaste.
B) PACs should be illegal, full stop. So long as PACs exist, capital will continue to flow into our politics. And as the cost burden of jumping through regulatory hoops and sidestepping ridiculous half-measures like this one is trivial for large donors, PACs disproportionally benefit highly-funded causes as opposed to those powered by small donations.
No half measures. Make PACs illegal.
Yep. If we can't wave a magic wand and fully solve all problems instantly we should just do nothing.
Fuck Lemmy.
Ah, but this might be a step in that direction.
After all, what politician receiving AIPAC funding is going to vote to make PACs illegal?
Take that nectar away, and what's stopping them?
Campaign Finance Reform is the issue from which ALL other issues flow. We need to take all money out of politics, make all political contributions illegal. Campaigns should receive basic Federal funding, with strict regulations on campaign speech. Those who violate those regulations will find themselves ejected from the race, and prohibited from running in the future.
This style of campaign will filter for those who are most qualified, instead of filtering OUT the best, in favor of clowns. Candidates like Trump wouldn't stand a chance.
I'd be fine if we took it further and didn't allow campaigns at all. Voters get to see your platform and voting history, and that's all. Removes the popularity contest bullshit.
Kind of like judges. In most places, they can't really campaign, but that only means that deals get arranged quietly, so it actually leads to more corruption.
Back in the early 90s, when Ross Perot was running for president, his best idea was to strongly regulate presidential campaigns. They couldn't be longer than 90 days, and they would be funded equally by the Federal government. The 2 year presidential campaign costs a fortune, so only those with the money and/or connections can run, leading to corrupt political deals to generate enough money. Perot wanted the primary value to be in the vote, not the campaign contribution. With out campaign contributions, the candidate is forced to pursue the only other thing of value - a citizen's vote, and everybody only has one, so we are all of equal value.
Dnc will move from aipac to j streets
Not taking money from AIPAC is not enough. They will just create shell PACs with random names like Chicago Women in Congress or whatever. What's needed is to elect the politicians who talk about the Hannibal Directive. Though not even Bernie will clear that bar.
