“We can’t use American money on Americans because we need to keep murdering those colored people” has been the US policy since the 60s.

The 1760s.

And how many servants did he pay to take care of his kids?

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 2 points 9 hours ago

yeah, but that's different because trump #1! y'all poor fucks aren't trump, so it's completely different.

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 22 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

"Why aren't people having kids anymore?"

I hope the fertility rate drops to South Korea levels.

I'm doing my part!

[–] MrKoyun@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

The one child policy is gonna be wild!

[–] MrKoyun@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Look, its the (nearly?) richest country in the world!

[–] aquovie@lemmy.cafe 2 points 9 hours ago

its the (nearly?) richest country

Not at this rate.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 9 points 14 hours ago

Trump is a pathologically lying, maliciously narcissistic, brain damaged, subhuman troglodyte, so yeah that tracks.

And if you can't afford to pay for The Amerisraeli War,® don't worry, we'll soon have a draft for you!

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

It can, it just won't. Thats why he's got to go

[–] NotEasyBeingGreen@slrpnk.net 13 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

We can't take care of these little things. These scams you got going on...

Amazing that the health and education of the people are simultaneously little things, scams, and unaffordable by the federal government.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 5 points 9 hours ago

the oligarchy have a vested interest in NOT educating the people. If the people were educated, they'd realise they're being fucked in every hole by the oligarchy.

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 5 points 14 hours ago

TBF you never see billionaires complain about not having access to health care or high education. More proof that poor people are always complaining. /s just in case...

10 years ago, a statement like this from ANY potus would have turned into a month off front-page freakout. Now? It gets a one-second shrug.

Fuck. Where we are now. So quickly.

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 69 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not even 10 years ago tbh... If Biden said this when he was president, Republicans would inexplicably become the number one advocates of healthcare and childcare and screech endlessly about him being a warmonger for several news cycles.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 48 points 23 hours ago (6 children)

It’s not “10 years ago,” because it has nothing to do with time passing. It has everything to do with Republicans doing a coordinated and concerted capture of all media.

It goes away because they want it to - the silly non-news used to stick around for a month because of their manipulation. It’s important to remember and talk about this widely

I doubt it would have applied to the cons.

IOKIYAR.

Newt and his team have been working to divide America since at least 1990. Actively. And it gets little mention. Meanwhile, plenty of reactionary centrists and nearly all of the mainstream media and of course the unhinged right wing would say things like "Obama is divisive" as some kind of serious analysis.

Meanwhile, the cons have been intentionally trying to divide. And were not called on it every single day, as they should be.

The GOPAC memo "Language: A Key Mechanism of Control" is something every American should be aware of, but I bet maybe 1% are.

So if earlier asshole GOP POTUSes were to blurt this out before, it would probably get bothsidered and downplayed back then, too.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 9 points 21 hours ago

The GOP effectively castrated news outlets and favored them to conservative propaganda.

Since Palantir has all the voting registrations linked to all the social security numbers, Musk raided and kept all our sensitive data, and the age of the draft has gone up, how much you want to bet the government suddenly drafts only the younglings who happen to be a Democrat to fight and die in his war?

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Hard not to feel targeted when they raise it right to the age you're turning this year.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 1 points 3 minutes ago

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll up it by a year next year too.

[–] RabbitBBQ@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

The drafts throughout history in many countries have always been done this way to varying degrees. It is partially seen as a way to mow the lawn as the elite class would see it. Whoever the undesirables are at that point in time get to go into the meat grinder first. Most recently, Russia has done this in Ukraine... Sending convicts, minority groups, poor people, etc, to the front line. Modern systems now would allow specific targeting of a draft to political opponents, specific areas of certain groups, and so on.

"They should pay, they have to raise their taxes," Trump continued. "But they should pay for it. And we could lower our taxes a little bit to them to make up, but we, it's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things."

looks at Florida... if only their immigrants were healthy young people.

Cutting federal taxes, and federal state funding, in order to ask states to raise taxes is, FYI, a shell game. Clear sign of imminent federal collapse, which is not a "comfort factor" for states.

While fair and friendly state secession involves accepting a net share of federal debts to assets, fuck all y'all secession is an escape from insance clown possee, suggesting a fuck all y'all entitlements (non) reimbursement plan. California is unfortunately governed by zionist federal power monger aspirationalist, but California accepting US tariff and energy policy is significant harm to California, before this BS.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 29 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Well it looks like I'm not going to be able to pay my taxes this year.

[–] btsax@reddthat.com 4 points 13 hours ago

I know you said this as a joke but there are tons of legal ways to avoid taxes.

-Contribute to a retirement account or health savings account

-Create a business around one of your hobbies and deduct all your expenses for that hobby

-Purchase certain treasuries or municipal bonds

-Bribe a government official

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 12 points 21 hours ago (6 children)

I hear so many people make that statement. I realize most are just making a flippant "joke".

Not paying your taxes, assuming you owe any federal taxes, is a recipe for a whole heap of trouble and expensive if you're working class. This isn't VISA where you can basically just ignore the debt for X number of years and then you're in the clear. The federal government has considerably more options for getting the money owed.

[–] BillyGruff82@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 10 hours ago

I'm not convinced tax evasion even hurts the government. Taxes gives currency value via scarcity, but currency also gains value through contracts made on that currency. Taxes is just a contract where everyone is automatically enrolled. As long as there are enough other contracts operating on the currency and the contracts are still enforced, the currency will retain value. The government also isn't at risk of going broke since it can literally print it's currency then increase interest rates to stop inflation.

Still hurts you of-course, but it's a meaningless sacrifice.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 9 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

government can't come for you if your tear it down and build a new one

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 9 points 20 hours ago (14 children)

And unicorns can't fart if you steal their butts!

And don’t those things (daycare, healthcare, Medicare) have high returns on value too? Because the workers benefitting from them are then more productive, so government recoups the investment in its people via taxes. Health issues can be tackled earlier when they’re cheaper. I’d assume less property crime as people are less desperate, etc etc. Funding domestic social programs is always the right move

[–] Duranie@leminal.space 42 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

There was a saying I heard a while back that keeps popping up. A version of "Democrats would rather feed 100 people in case one was hungry, Republicans would rather withhold food from 100 people in case one didn't deserve it."

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 13 points 21 hours ago

Just in case, this is Democratic and Republican voters. Democratic politicians mostly agree with Republicans on this but in a pinch will means test 100 hungry people to find and feed the hungriest of them.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 10 points 21 hours ago

That is not even accurate, their leaders, the ones controlling the party, want to starve all the poor, they want nothing but harm to the poor, because that's what the party wants, and they believe in nothing other than self interest.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 14 points 20 hours ago

While you are absolutely right, you’re also out of your mind if you think the president gives even one shit about high returns on value to anyone other than himself.

[–] DomeGuy@lemmy.world 13 points 21 hours ago

Literally setting cash on fire has a higher return on value than war.

He also said states should raise taxes and pay for daycare and healthcare themselves.

[–] wavebeam@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I agree. States should raise the tax rate to 90% for anyone who makes more than a million a year. Good idea, Mr covfefe

99.99999999999999999999999999999999% on anything above 1 million dollars. Bootstrap it billionaires.

I can’t help but feel so sorry for all the Americans. No one deserves this. He’s gambling with so many lives of innocent people. Before Trump I didn’t know democracy would be so delicate.

Greetings from Germany. We have known for a long time.
