The last guys that had to deal with these kinds of traitors, left us with a great tool to deal with this exact situation, called the 14th Amendment/ Section 3:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

This perfectly describes Trump, and every person who gave speeches at the pre-Insurrection rally, as well as anyone who amplified the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen, which was the premise for the Insurrection.

All it would have taken was a Biden Administration courageous enough to use the exact words in the Constitution to protect us from the resurrection of MAGA. If Lincoln could have seen that, he would have been screaming: "Why the fuck do you think we went to the trouble of amending the fucking Constitution? To keep traitors like these assholes from taking over again, you dopey dipshits!"

I still blame Hillary and DWS for not running Bernie against Trump in 2016, for all this mess.

Trump is not the disease, he is a symptom of the disease of corruption and greed that they exposed in 2016.

Hillary and DWS couldn't stand to have their corruption stopped by a decent human being, so they handed the country to the most vile human being to ever be President...to protect their own corruption. They would rather be ineffective opposition to a tyrant, than represent the People.

Bernie would have wiped the floor with Trump, if he would have been given a chance. Instead, we're here now...so that they can be there.

Trump didn't win in 2016, Hillary lost. Trump is just cashing in on the fact that America is corrupt to it's core. They sold America out.

TBH, Hillary received more votes than Trump in 2016, just not in the right places.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that Hilary decided to not campaign in Michigan because it wasn’t a battle ground.

IMO Bernie would have been the only one that could beat Trump. But we’ve no way of proving.

2.8+mm votes more.

The day a Republican loses the popular vote is the day we abolish the electoral college.

The EC is part of the US problems, the main issue remains with the use of FPTP in the election.

Get rid of both and institute proper elections, and not only will the GOP loose influence, you will actually have third parties with a chance of getting representation.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Money out of politics first and foremost. The rest will fall in line after.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As long as FPTP is still in place, the political landscape will keep moving to a duopoly, with a proper system, giving smaller parties a real chance you can get 6-7 different political parties in congress, that won't really be possible with FPTP.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago

technically its a uniparty, since DNC and GOP vote or not vote on various things very similarly, and does backdoor deals.

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Since EC favors smaller state populations, which tend to vote Republican, is that ever likely to have popular vote go R but EC go D? I guess if there was higher than average turnout in Texas and Flordia who go R and less than average in California who go D it could work out, but seems unlikely.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago

That was an implied point to my statement. You're exactly right. I guess I mean to say that if ever goes that direction, we'll see them call it cheating.

As far as the American government is concerned, the 168 children are unpersons and therefore don’t matter.

[–] Armok_the_bunny@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, I'm not sure gas would be that cheap, but it definitely wouldn't be $4.00 - $5.00.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 1 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Yeah this war is about Israel taking Lebanon. Iran is just a distraction by an idiot they have blackmail on. Gas could still be high Israel fucking around at this point. AIPAC is a disease

[–] mlg@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Conflating Trump's antics with typical American imperialist behavior is a dangerous game.

I'm sure the strait would have been open, but there is no future where Kamala or Biden wouldn't have greenlit Israel's joint plan to degrade Iran's nuclear program. People already forgot they were slinging missiles for the past 2+ years.

Those 168 Iranians could have died just the same because it has already happened so many times before.

Wait until China invades Taiwan. It is starting to look very clear what will happen.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If I was China, I would do it while Trump is president. The US is the only country that could realistically help Taiwan. So just make a deal and give Trump something he wants in exchange. That could be as simple as buying a ton of Nvidia cards or just giving the US exclusive market access in China, ensuring TSMC keeps producing chips and so on.

[–] tacoplease@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

"We promise to buy (fingers crossed) 200 more Boeing aircraft."

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

china wont, they think long terms economically its just sabre rattling for internal consumption. they at least know trying to take taiwan would mean the chip factories get destroyed.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

They aren't that far behind, and factories destroyed would mean that now the West is behind them.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

We unfortunately will never know.
