There is absolutely no reason to censor the fucked, dumb sticker because of it

[–] green_goglin@thelemmy.club 4 points 2 days ago

Rationale was most likely it would survive longer in the wild.

1.02 €/L

I mean omega giga lulz. Are you trying to tell europeans out there that turd face did a good job?

I think that's like half the price most europeans pay.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 21 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Most Europeans have options besides driving

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 days ago

And those that do drive on average have shorter commutes than Americans.

Canada doesn't and the prices the US pays are still comparable to our pre war prices.

1.65 cad/l

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There's also the fact that it's heavily subsidized in the US, so comparing it to prices elsewhere does not change the fact that trump has basically doubled gas prices from what they were before he took office.

He's also directly responsible for the surge in gas prices in Canada and Europe, so I don't know what's with this idea that "Oh, gas is cheaper in the US, I guess trump can't be that bad after all..."

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The idea is that this being the sticking point for people is hilarious.

There's so many other things people are okay with but this is where they draw the line.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

You gotta meet people where they're at. It's about the messaging.

I doubt the person who put the sticker there was like "Alright, this is the last straw." But maybe a dozen people who fill their tanks there will see it and have a moment of self-awareness. Like "Hey, you know what? The sticker is right, this is trump's fault."

Not saying most trump supporters are capable of self-awareness, but if it heaps shame on them and makes them embarrassed to speak up then that's a net plus. And there's always a few fence sitters for whom this is the line they draw.

Whether we agree with them or not about their complacency pertaining to other things is beside the point.

This price is artificially low as the US is depleting their reserves to offset true impact of the PERMANENT damage he’s caused to the global energy supply chain. Clock is ticking.

[–] rethnor@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 days ago

Those are pre-war numbers here

He is a narcissist. He wants to be famous, he wants to be remembered. This is a perfect way to accomplish this.

"It's never bad advertizing if they remember your name"

[–] green_goglin@thelemmy.club 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Doubt that the “and fucked kids!” mention is desirable for the brand.

Love how the slightly oversized head perfectly embodies this. 👌🎯

Still fascinated the US has not managed to ban < 95 octane rated gasoline.

[–] jubilationtcornpone@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

High octane fuel prevents engine knock (premature ignition) in high compression engines. Most gasoline powered vehicles in the US do not have a high compression engine and do not benefit from higher octane.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bought a Kia Optima 2016. Engine is built for 98 octane.

[–] jubilationtcornpone@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's because some of those Kia engines are high compression. If it has a turbocharger, that increases the compression further because the turbocharger forces air into the cylinders under pressure.

You don't technically have to use high octane fuel in those. The ECM (the engines computer) will adjust the timing to prevent premature detonation. However, doing so will diminish performance and fuel economy to the point where you're not saving any money by buying cheaper fuel.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago

That was very insightful, thank you!

[–] green_goglin@thelemmy.club 2 points 2 days ago

This guy knows boost.

[–] ShankShill@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

95 RON is about the US 91 octane.

Around my area, we typically have 87, 89, and 93. My cars run fine on any of them, but one of them recommends 91+.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

TIL that octane != octane.

[–] myrrh@ttrpg.network 1 points 2 days ago

RON ! = (RON+MON)/2

[–] vzqq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago

They still sell 91 in Germany.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

Idk, 95 is bad for my relatively new motorcycle

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

$5.89 where I live

[–] COASTER1921@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I hate that Republicans previously put the counterpart Biden stickers on pumps when Biden played no major part in gas prices at that time, yet now with Trump having started war in the middle East actually causing an abnormal rise in gas prices it just looks like the left is doing exactly the same thing back.
