Ron Wyden co-authored Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act in 1996, which protects internet platforms from being held liable for user-generated content. It's a big reason that the internet exploded in popularity. We may need to revisit and increase regulation since seeing what social media became, but he's had a pretty great track record.
Section 230 is an absolutely vital regulation that allows the internet to be free, getting rid of it would be horrible

Iirc he was also against the bullshit PMTA process the FDA shoved on the vaping industry (the process is responsible for the popularity of disposables).
it's better to find common ground with your peers and then to work with them to make life better for everyone.
If Ted Cruz is in favor of free speech, so you can work with him on free speech issues to help everyone of all colors and creeds
And he really is in favor of free speech. He's never tried to shut down any of his critics. People send him all kinds of nasty things on twitter and he doesn't even block any of them.

I'm struggling to figure out Cruz's angle on this. I know he is a giant POS with zero redeeming qualities so something is up here.
He never intended for it to pass. He just wants to be able to say that he was on the popular side of an issue. Don't forget, he wants to be president more than anything in the world, so everything he does is about the next presidential election.
