Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

I picked out this... thing. The duvet cover had eaten everything in the machine and turned itself into a postmodern textile art piece.

If you washing machine has a Bedding setting then try using that. It prevents this from happening, at least of front loading machines.

My washer does this all the time. It can be infuriating.

My washing machine ones created a giant extremelly heavy clump of sheets, started shaking like crazy and with the vibrations drove away from the wall which resulted in the dryer on top almost falling

Duvets are the worst, it's like the ultimate boss fight for my dryer

You have to butten them up again before you wash them. I regret it every time I don't.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago

You have to do them with just like the fitted sheet and pillow cases.

I still think one swallowed a pillow case and now I can never find the matching one anymore.

Wait, there are laundry machines that stop when something's wrong?

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 18 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

That's exactly why I always tie a knot in the middle of large things like this lol

I never had duvet covers do this. Fitted sheets however 💀. Now, I put them into a big laundry bag I've bought at a large coffee roastery.

[–] pageflight@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Oh nice, it doesn't pull the knot too tight?

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 5 points 7 hours ago

You have you keep it somewhat loose, just make it so it can't easily catch other things

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 2 points 7 hours ago

I've never had that happen personally.

How is that even possible! Why is it a topological torus??

[–] whaleross@lemmy.world 15 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It took me time to find the opening and then to accept that it isn't ripped anywhere. My only explanation is that it took a tumble into the fourth dimension.

Did it come out with unmatched socks inside of it?

[–] whaleross@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

Now that you mentioned it, I think I threw the other one away in 2007.

when you put predator and pray in the same fish tank

[–] BeUnique@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 hours ago

It reminds me of intestines

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It’s official. You are the chosen one, and this is your legendary weapon.

[–] whaleross@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

Well okay then I guess

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago

Ugh fuck duvet covers they’ll eat themselves even if they’re closed and the only thing in there

[–] oce@jlai.lu 6 points 6 hours ago

You can also use a laundry mesh bag, put either the duvet or the rest in the bag and it will not happen. Laundry bags are also useful to protect clothes with elastics from being stretched and damaged.

First thought: "why are they holding their baby like that?"

After scrolling down: "oh"

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 4 points 7 hours ago

Wash separately

[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 3 points 6 hours ago

Or it made a perfect rotisserie chicken holder.

[–] NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com 1 points 5 hours ago

Happens to my sheets all the time. I am just used to it now and prepared to unravel and run again with the stuff that got trapped and is a big ball of damp mess.
