I love threads like this, they really remind you of the demographics of Lemmy. I'll be watching it. Come on England!

Hahaha, it's true.

Perhaps there'd be a bigger response to "Is anyone else self-hosting their own Open Source Football Tournament with their cats?"

No, no, no! Not cats, qwacks!

Edit: Hopefully it goes without saying, don't adopt pets to show off on social media (Nemo effect). I don't think Lemmy users would do that, but you never know. Above duck was given to a family (single mom and her kid I believe) a few years ago and would be with them on their street stand. They put on a football jersey during the tournament to help sell more items, they did not expect the duck to become more famous than the official mascots and get a wikipedia page (and meet the president of Mexico in some controversial twist of fame [due to other more pressing issues]): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merl%C3%ADn_the_Duck

Threads like this confirm to me that I've found "my people". Enjoy your football match.

Back in 2022 my brother, who's quite the authority on football tournaments, said that the team England had then was the best team England had ever had, and if we didn't win the Euros in 2022, we never will. 2022 was also the year of that laser pointer incident, so it was also an exceptionally embarrassing time to be rooting for England.

Nope

I'm five minutes from a pub and I'm dreading the drunks that will be walking past my house at 4am

[–] RunjamboJenkin@infosec.pub 3 points 6 days ago

Nope. Not worth staying up that late for what we will mostly likely be a less than entertaining game.

Looks like late 90s Leeds player Al Finger Haaland scored twice.

I didn't.

I got up at 3.50 for a piss and heard someone cheering, but that's been my only observation

Is it still going on? How long does it take to see who can kick a ball into a net more often?
