They call it the "reverse praying mantis".

General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
Good way to give a whole generation a choking kink
you're telling me i can watch the light drain from my lover's eyes and fuck the man at the same time?
This better not awaken anything in me. ...or un-awaken...? or something.
Unsleepen.
So is it actually illegal to do that or are they just teaching for… reasons?
I mean, unless you've got explicit consent it is assault, and if you go too far it's manslaughter. I don't think there's anything specifically on the books though
Where i live, even if you get consent, the choker could still be prosecuted if something goes wrong and/or the chokee changes their mind.
90% of the kids in those classes would never have thought to try it otherwise, but now that it's mentioned in school, they'll be thinking about it...
Maybe if internet porn didn't exist
Isn't this the exact kind of reasoning anti-sex-ed fanatics use? "Well now that they know about sex they're going to be more likely to try it!"
Having more knowledge about this isn't a bad thing. It seems like they're teaching legal ramifications for non-consensual acts or for going too far, probably with a focus on personal ramifications as well.
I agree. And I think people will be less likely to do it non-consensually if they they know that the other person knows it's illegal.
This feels pretty needlessly anti-kink?
Makes it more fun. The lawmakers know what they're doing
So, it's okay to strangle or suffocate someone if they aren't having sex? Did they need a new law for this?
You just made this kink more taboo, you fucking idiots.
This is going to backfire as gloriously as DARE did in the US for drugs
Ohhh, now I get it. They're saying students are being taught that strangling is illegal, not that it's illegal to teach them about strangling.
My first read on that was they were teaching them how to do the the kind of strangling that's illegal during sex.
No no, it's illegal to strangle them while teaching.
I mean, unless they want you to and survive.
