Imagine a country so stupid they elect Trump for president. 😱
Twice
Ignoring the fact that there’s also both external and internal US voter manipulation and election fraud, but sure.
Ignoring the fact that Americans elected Trump TWICE! 🤣🤣🤣
And the second time, after 34 felony convictions.
Has any of this voter fraud been proven in court because besides a couple small things that had no effect on the race I don't think it has.
The lawsuits are ongoing, but yes there's hard data to prove that there was a clear Russian Tail that favored the GOP in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
Russia doesn't have enough influence to throw an election in California alone, let alone the USA. Why are you deluding yourself with this silliness?
Yeah, they have FB posters and Reddit accounts, just like the USA, Israel, China, et al.
Russian Tail is a term, not a source of influence. It is called that because the Russian elections have shown this specific type of internal manipulation for decades.
So send it over!
https://electiontruthalliance.org/
that is the primary group heading things up. They have the data on their page.
They have one lawsuit in Pennsylvania that hasn't been proved in court yet.
Wake me up when they win.
They have more than one, the PA one is furthest along in the process of the courts.
Yawn.
Voter fraud has been proven, but it’s absolutely minuscule and virtually irrelevant other than for the purposes of monitoring it. Recent results point to Republicans being the more frequent culprit. However, fraud like fake Electors and Trump calling a Governor and asking for more votes to be “found” aren’t up for debate.
What's stupid is that land and even the most idiotic of voters get to vote here.
Donvict would not have won if it wasn't for the EC, and likely would not have had a second term after that first loss.
The truth is that so many eligible voters chose NOT TO VOTE (almost 110 million people). The presumption here is that most of those people would not have voted for the child rapist but either hated Kamala more or did not mind the child rapist as president enough to mail a envelop
Oh, he won the popular vote with Kamala; I was talking about the first time around in 2016.
If it wasn't for the EC, Hillary would have won and we might have avoided this decade+ of awfulness that having the EC choose him for us has wrought.
We have a terrible system where land counts more than people in many cases.
And I of course was being a bit hyperbolic about being annoyed that stupid people can outvote smarter people.
But yes, if a whole lot of people just don't even bother to vote that's obviously problematic. Of course, the conservatives want to make it even harder for people to vote, so only the most motivated people are going to show up, especially in places where the conservatives intentionally make voting difficult.
He won the popular vote for his second term. Abolishing the EC after his first term wouldn't have stopped this.
That's correct. What I am trying to say that if the EC didn't install him instead of who the people voted for in 2016 (Hillary), his political career may have ended in 2016.
Ah, so you maybe intended to say he wouldn't had a second run after an initial loss.
That sentence doesn't make any sense. But the principle of democracy is that everybody of age have a vote. Same as in other democracies.
Donvict is a stupid nickname, I guess you mean Donald Trump, but he is not a convict as you are hinting, because a convict is a person that is serving time in prison. IDK what EC is, so in short none of this makes much sense as a non American.
Which my guess is you are too, despite you write "here" regarding who is allowed to vote in USA.
Ok first of all, you're coming off like kind of a dick, so maybe like, don't.
Oh but that's the really fun part, the US doesn't have that. The EC that other person was talking about the the Electoral College.
See, the founding fathers thought that hey, even though the only people who vote are land owning white dudes, what if those yokels want to vote in someone bad? So they made the Electoral College. Basically each state has a certain amount of, well, guys, who aren't really chosen by the voters, and they cast the vote for President. The more people in the state the more people that are in the electrical college.
In theory they could go against what the voters want to prevent a fascist from taking over, but usually they just rubber stamp whatever the population of their state votes for as a majority.
This causes some real tricky math, so some states have more influence over the election than others, and, sometimes, someone can lose the "popular vote" (how the citizens actually voted) and still win the presidency because they won the EC votes in the right states.
Basically this is why Ohio secretly controls the global powers.
The Senate is a great way to show how distorted things are.
For example: Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas, combined, have less people in them than California, which has 39 million in it.
But Cali gets 2 senators. Those states get 16, even if, combined, they have less than half the population of California.
Maybe cool off a bit? That person isn't even using a standard acronym as far as I know, I'm American and I can't recall ever seeing the Electoral College abbreviated as EC.
That being said, while I get your point about Americans in general assuming people online understand America-centric terms, a forum discussing US politics is the one place where that assumption isn't out of place.
I'm not American and I could see what EC meant by context. But it's cool to ask and learn.
Regarding the 'Donvict', yeah - kinda stupid. I think these types of name calling are immature. But even more annoyingly, they do seem to work especially on the mouth breathers who might vote for trump. It's just an association/feeling for them, so logic is irrelevant and these stupid word games can actually sink in. And 'convict' is also a verb. And it also raises the mental image of a 'convicted' person.
In fairness, people don't shorten it to EC, I just used context clues.
And, also in fairness, Americans aren't going about, trying to get people to learn what inches are. It's just that, at the moment, our culture is the most influential. It's not exactly your average American person's fault you watch movies made here, Internet videos made here, read book from here, or have to use the dollar for international trade.
Sorry your country isn't as culturally influential at the moment, but it's not like most of us asked for this. Most of us don't even want this, hell we almost switched to metric and somehow that got dropped.
So like, what's something cool about your country everyone should know about?
The first time we almost switched to metric, back in the 1700s or early 1800s, pirates attacked the ship that was bringing us our Kg weight and our Meter Stick, and they stole them.
I'm not even joking.
That's pretty cool actually thanks for sharing
LOL, as someone that was told in my elementary school years that we were going to switch to metric, I still shake my head at how stupid it is that we continue with it.
I absolutely loathed doing any kind of homework or problems in math that used imperial units. For the longest time, I hoped that cars putting in km/h and sneaking in "2 liters" for soda was a way of starting to sneak it into the brains of the resistant, but so far, it has not happened...
It's a great way to highlight just how insular America can be to the point of just basically kicking ourselves in the balls. Here's a great example of money lost; I could tell you stories about companies I've been at and the provisioning they would do for things they were building in other countries and this dumb measurement system still being an issue...
https://everydayastronaut.com/mars-climate-orbiter/
The other example is of course anything that has the word "socialism" in it or health care or correctional systems, etc. Lawd forbid we learn anything from anyone else...we are AMERICA! USA! USA! The metric system was created in France! I mean, France?!!!
But votes aren’t equal. People in populated states’ votes count less than cows and dirt in unpopulated states.
That ain’t democracy.
Oh, but he is. Guilty of 34 felony counts.
Also, EC means Electoral College but others have pointed that out.
I'm not sure how to tell you this is a self-own without seeming as though I'm piling on, but your enthusiasm for being a dick makes it feel better. The presence of two items in a numbered list in this case means that one of either of them can be used to determine the validity of the criteria (an either/or condition), and not that both must be true.
I think when they mean "the land" they are referring to a pretty common argument about how not all votes count equally because of the way states are populated and congresspeople are appointed. Someone living in a city in California has diluted voting power compared to someone in Alaska because of population density. This is often reduced to a pithy refrain about "the land" getting votes.
I do agree that being upset that stupid people get to vote is not pro democracy.
"Convicted felon" is something Trump is. That term has nothing to do with serving time, despite the word "convict" sometimes meaning that. People would often type out "convicted felon Donald Trump" and this was shortened. Clearly you were able to deduce from context clues what they were talking about.
EC is a pretty common abbreviation for "electoral college" when already talking about politics.
The fact you're unfamiliar with the landmass argument and EC and they are casually using them seems to indicate that they are more familiar with US political culture and contributes to the idea they are not lying about their location.
I don't know where you're from, but if you're keen on protecting trumps image I'd do some introspection.
I am very well aware of that concept, it was just so poorly formulated the sentence didn't make sense to me.
OK, USA has millions of acronyms, it's impossible to keep up with them all.
Yes I know it when the term is first mentioned, using the acronym from the get go is bad form IMO.
Also calling on the Electoral Collage is a very doubtful argument, if it should have prevented Trump, it would have meant it should overturn a democratic election.
There were many many opportunities to stop Trump before it came to that.
You not understanding the sentence makes sense if you are not familiar with the way people speak about it day-to-day. It would be like asking what the point of a no kings protest is, considering America doesn't actually have a king. It's OK to not understand or ask the question, but people locally understand what they are saying. It's not a failing of the original commenter that an international audience doesn't follow their complaint about local politics.
I'm not asking or expecting you to keep up with all the acronyms, but accusing someone of lying about being American because you don't understand what they are talking about as a non American is just a weird thing to do.
When they are talking about the electoral college in that sense, they are likely talking about the fact that in Trump's first run if we did not have the electoral college he would have lost. He lost the popular vote, and the distribution of those votes via the electoral college is what actually caused the win. Again, this is a pretty common talking point in the United States.
Hooray another person who doesn't understand the USA electoral system telling us how our electoral system is / should be.
Wanna explain what a "liberal" is for us again? Ok thanks!
