"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

I'm not as anti-AI as the rest of this place but I am 100% in favor of being honest about it.

I found a mod passing off AI generated images as authentic, vintage sci-fi covers. I asked why they were mixing them together and was not only banned but they deleted my comment.

They aren't passing off shit as authentic vintage art.

They saw a cool image that fits the community and posted it. Nowhere in the community does it say AI isn't allowed nor that it needs to be labeled.

They banned the account because some rando went mental about something nobody in that community cares about. They aren't trying to hide anything. Stop making shit up.

If they weren't paying it off as vintage art then the question wouldn't be offensive. The ban and deletion of the comment specifically suggests that they don't want others to know that the art they are posting is AI.

Otherwise there's literally no reason to ban someone for asking questions.

I'm not making anything up. That's literally the facts of the situation as they were presented.

And you're trying to defend them so hard I have to assume you are one of their alts.

Edit: Using this persons comment as a way to highlight the rules of the sub would have been a better use of the time of both the mod and the rest of the subs users.

Also, how do you know they 'found some cool art' rather than having generated it themselves?
