Age gaps in relationships doesn't = pedophilia. Some people are attracted to milfs and dilfs.

there's plenty of other ways to make fun of this pudgey cunt with the brain of a vibrating dildo that doesn't have a full charge.

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.zip 68 points 1 month ago (2 children)

No one said it did. The meme simply says she's defending it. I really like how you corrected people then called her fat. Thanks for your contribution.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip -5 points 1 month ago

There’s pedophiles that need to be brought to justice and this is your concern?

You sound fat /s

[–] Strocker89@lemmynsfw.com 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So you will defend gross age gaps but you are ok with fat shaming?

[–] JamesTBagg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The world needs more fat shaming. Have you seen what we look like now a days?

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 28 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

I think the issue is fat shaming doesn't actually make people fix their problems. I agree people are too fat generally. I just don't think insulting them helps. It's usually more effective to give encouragement and praise when possible.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

There's a healthy medium. With the shame that is. We're probably not far off of it now.

[–] JamesTBagg@lemmy.world 0 points 4 weeks ago

The pendulum swung from too far one way to too far the other, we're correcting now, I feel.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

tbf that's mostly because food producers put sugar into literally anything to sell more food, because it makes people addicted. no wonder people are obese.

[–] JamesTBagg@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Fair point, but there must be some personal accountability. Yeah, processed food producers find ways to get us addicted with their delicious sugar but you don't have to eat everything in front of you. You don't have to clear your plate every time. You can sneak a walk in every now and then.
Little of column A, little of column B.

Very normal with Filipino women. I'm the only guy my wife's age, rest of her friends are 20+ years younger than their husbands.

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

That's just cultural patriarchy. Its the same system that has existed in almost every culture around the world.

The dowry mechanism has changed, but its still more or less rich old men using their wealth to get women.

I dont know about you, but I dont look at trophy wives and think "oh what a soul mates they must be". Im not looking at Melania Trump and thinking "oh it must be love".... no, that woman is bought and paid for (trafficked, likely) and thats the modern dowry.

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 weeks ago

It isn't always a one way street. Many women realize that they prefer wealth to true love and willing seek out whomever has the fattest wallet as the person they want to be with. They tend to see relationships as transactional and don't want to settle for less than top payment. I had a couple university friends like that and they were very open about looking for the highest bidder, age wasn't a consideration.

[–] damnedfurry@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

its still more or less rich old men using their wealth to get women.

The vast majority of women who are in relationships with wealthier older men are by no means being forced to be with them.

They choose to date those men because they want to. They have agency, they can make their own decisions. It's ironically quite misogynistic and infantilizing to claim that any woman who makes what you see as the wrong decision automatically must be a brainwashed slave of the man she's with, as if men can literally hypnotize women into dating them against their will by showing them a bank statement with enough zeroes in it.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Oh come on your giving no agency to women. Women can have kinks also some are into old guys sure. The majority I imagine do it for the money. And who cares if that's what they want let them.

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz -5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It’s sort of smart. It’s nice to have someone who knows what they want and has already gained at least a moderate amount of security.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

I suppose that's one way to rationalize it

[–] NichEherVielleicht@feddit.org 10 points 1 month ago

Well yes... Sorry...

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 6 points 4 weeks ago

This comment would work so much better without the misogyny. Hating evil people because they're evil is so easy to do.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

Sounds like something a 25 year old dating a 16 year old would say.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 weeks ago

there's plenty of other ways

What a weird gate to keep.

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world -3 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

This is just the "age is just a number" pedo defense with more words. Its fucking gross.

Men preying on younger women; the implicit power difference in wisdom and wealth... its all institutional patriarchy and misogyny. There is a limit. And before you go "but what about older women?" That's fucking gross too. Its still the old preying on naive. But historically, culturally, it has been used to justify old men manipulating and abusing young women as sex objects.

If you're defending this, then you're defending the mechanism of misogynists, groomers and pedos. Fucking gross.

[–] PumaStoleMyBluff@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago

She was 25 when they met

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

No pedos everyone is an adult and the irony of your comment. You think women can't make decisions for themselves and must follow your views. Who cares what adults do the chances are the women is using the man for his wealth and the man for sex. Who cares.

[–] stevedice@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

What? They said a massive age gap creates a power imbalance between the members of the partnership and what you got out of that was "women can't make decisions for themselves".

[–] LoreleiSankTheShip@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

By that logic, someone wealthy should never be allowed to date someone poor, it would create a power imbalance. Nor should a disabled person date an abled person, power imbalance again. So on and so forth. Ultimately, what goes on between two (or more) consenting adults is none of anyone's business as long as no minor is involved at any point, simple as.

[–] stevedice@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yes. Partnerships where there's a significant wealth gap between the partners or where one person is disabled do experience a higher rate of abuse. Reality doesn't change because you're not cognisant of it.

Love that you jumped to defend wealth imbalance between partnerships, though. That is yet another mechanism the patriarchy has historically used to oppress and control women.
