A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Nothing is more damage than Vietnam...

  • Korea?
  • WWII?
  • Second Sino-Japanese War?
  • Armenian Genocide?
  • Russian Civil War?
  • WWI?
  • Mexican Revolution?
  • Congo Free State?
  • Paraguayan War?
  • ACW?
  • Taiping Rebellion?
  • Napoleonic Wars?
  • ... and that's just 19th-20th century.

If you think nothing is "more damage than Vietnam" I respectfully suggest that you should learn more about non-Vietnam.

All very good points, yes. Also I think you missed the point of what I was saying by being obtuse

Because it couldn't possibly be that you communicated your point in an obtuse fashion now, could it? 🙄

Oh I completely did, but I meant in the scale of comparing an AI image to what happened in Vietnam. Like different continents. Anyway hope you have a good holiday break.

But which one is most damage?

Well by sheer body count, nothing matches WWII. This is even if you don't include the second Sino-Japanese War as part of it. (If you do, that boosts WWII's score by a further 15-20%.)

But my personal "favourite" is the Paraguay war. It "only" has a body count of about half a million, but that covers about 50-70% of its total population.

Pause for a second and think of that. At least half of your population gone in six years.
