“You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It’s that simple. You don’t have that right to break the law and incite violence,” Kash Patel said. Like Kyle Rittenhouse? Or all the other cosplaying Meal Team Six smooth brains that like to counterprotest? Cool, cool, cool

[–] kersploosh@sh.itjust.works 249 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

In case anyone forgot, Rittenhouse went to a protest with a loaded rifle looking for a fight, shot ~~two~~ three people, walked away untouched, was acquitted, and got speaking gigs on conservative TV shows. You can do whatever you want as long as you're on the "right" side.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 87 points 1 day ago (1 children)

fun fact: teenage Rittenhouse had better discipline and control during the immediate timeframe of him shooting people than these 5+ year ICE/CBP goons have

regardless of what he set out to do, if you watch the videos of the event, it's actually less of a transgression than the shit going on now. and that's, uh, sad.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago

Yep, both were looking for a fight. But Kyle was actually trying to get out of the situation. These people are literally executing people.

Its not judicial justice but he has a hard time showing his face. Colleges rejected his applications and so have prospective jobs.

"When I am weaker than you, I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you, I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles."

They're scared shitless that Minnesotans will realize they can legally carry rifles (they need a handgun permit tho) and ICE only has pistols

They're already out numbered 10-1 everytime they get out of their trucks.

CCWs don't help, because they're not a visual deterrent and the act of drawing would get you shot.

But a big fuck off rifle will make them get back in the truck. America has a dark history, so fuck it let's co-opt it.

Let's see how the racists feel when they get followed everywhere by a group of people with rifles.

I have a feeling bare minimum they won't be so quick to escalate to violence.

[–] discocactus@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

That's exactly what they're looking for to justify escalation. "Look the protestors have rifles now, we need assault rifles." The only alternative is to show up with enough people that they don't have the bullets to stop them. Otherwise you're playing into their hands.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago

Oh yeah, because surely they wouldn't escalate to murdering people in the street anyways...

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago

They pardoned the january 6 people. I guess that only counts if you're specifically aiding Trump in a crime.

Who has that definition of fascism handy?

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)
  1. Powerful, often exclusionary, populist nationalism centered on cult of a redemptive, “infallible” leader who never admits mistakes.

  2. Political power derived from questioning reality, endorsing myth and rage, and promoting lies.

  3. Fixation with perceived national decline, humiliation, or victimhood.

  4. White Replacement “Theory” used to show that democratic ideals of freedom and equality are a threat.Oppose any initiatives or institutions that are racially, ethnically, or religiously harmonious.

  5. Disdain for human rights while seeking purity and cleansing for those they define as part of the nation.

  6. Identification of “enemies”/scapegoats as a unifying cause. Imprison and/or murder opposition and minority group leaders.

  7. Supremacy of the military and embrace of paramilitarism in an uneasy, but effective collaboration with traditional elites. Fascists arm people and justify and glorify violence as “redemptive”.

  8. Rampant sexism.

  9. Control of mass media and undermining “truth”.

  10. Obsession with national security, crime and punishment, and fostering a sense of the nation under attack.

  11. Religion and government are intertwined.

  12. Corporate power is protected and labor power is suppressed.

  13. Disdain for intellectuals and the arts not aligned with the fascist narrative.

  14. Rampant cronyism and corruption. Loyalty to the leader is paramount and often more important than competence.

  15. Fraudulent elections and creation of a one-party state.

  16. Often seeking to expand territory through armed conflict.
