Elon Musk’s X offices in Paris have been raided by French authorities who have now summoned him to appear for questioning amid a probe into his social media platform.

Cybercrime officers carried out Tuesday’s raid with assistance from Europol, ratcheting up a year-long investigation into the platform’s algorithm and the content being recommended to users.

The social media platform has been under investigation since January 2025, though it has expanded since then following allegations of Holocaust denial and sexually explicit deepfakes linked to Grok, X’s AI chatbot. The Paris prosecutor’s office has now asked Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino to appear at a hearing in April.

odds on muski just refusing, and zero consequences come from this.

alternatively, a paltry slap on the wrist

Don't confuse US consequences for EU consequences. It's pretty well accepted that Americans receive more protections from companies as a result of EU legal cases than our own FTC and FCC.

I never believe these kinds of people suffer actual consequences until it's actually happened and they run out of appeals. Or lifespan.

If he doesn't deal with this, Twitter will end up getting banned in France.

Yes yes yes that’d be perfect, at least EU-wide

Given the EU is pulling as much of their digital assets off of US severs, they may not take too kindly to Twitter this time around. Especially since Elon was found in the Epstein files and is budds with Trump.

The second half makes it seem like there aren't rich people in France. The only reason I'll believe we don't see more non-American/British/Israeli oligarchs in the Epstein files is because they had other islands closer to home.

Unless their islands are backed by a different or opposing power that doesn't mind cutting Epstein system loose for public cred, I don't expect the wealthy and politicians to do much.

You’d think the kiddie porn generating ai would be enough to ban it and sanction Musk.

Everywhere.
