Elon Musk’s X offices in Paris have been raided by French authorities who have now summoned him to appear for questioning amid a probe into his social media platform.

Cybercrime officers carried out Tuesday’s raid with assistance from Europol, ratcheting up a year-long investigation into the platform’s algorithm and the content being recommended to users.

The social media platform has been under investigation since January 2025, though it has expanded since then following allegations of Holocaust denial and sexually explicit deepfakes linked to Grok, X’s AI chatbot. The Paris prosecutor’s office has now asked Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino to appear at a hearing in April.

Now do raids, issue warrants for and arrest people from the Epstein files.

$10 (CLP) that this will end in a nothingburger in three weeks.

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

We'll see if he shows up or if there will be any consequences after someone is paid off.

I love this for musk

[–] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 99 points 1 day ago (4 children)

odds on muski just refusing, and zero consequences come from this.

alternatively, a paltry slap on the wrist

Don't confuse US consequences for EU consequences. It's pretty well accepted that Americans receive more protections from companies as a result of EU legal cases than our own FTC and FCC.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 4 points 15 hours ago

I never believe these kinds of people suffer actual consequences until it's actually happened and they run out of appeals. Or lifespan.

If he doesn't deal with this, Twitter will end up getting banned in France.

[–] kutt@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

Yes yes yes that’d be perfect, at least EU-wide

[–] tehsillz@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Luigi intensifies

Given the EU is pulling as much of their digital assets off of US severs, they may not take too kindly to Twitter this time around. Especially since Elon was found in the Epstein files and is budds with Trump.

The second half makes it seem like there aren't rich people in France. The only reason I'll believe we don't see more non-American/British/Israeli oligarchs in the Epstein files is because they had other islands closer to home.

Unless their islands are backed by a different or opposing power that doesn't mind cutting Epstein system loose for public cred, I don't expect the wealthy and politicians to do much.

You’d think the kiddie porn generating ai would be enough to ban it and sanction Musk.

Everywhere.

If this isn't fake, he switched to voting Republican when they started the Southern Strategy

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 hours ago

It's not, he's a Republican Congressman.

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's so crazy, having not been on the platform for a while, how many bots are just spewing garbage.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 10 points 20 hours ago

There were a lot of bots and toxicity long before he took over. I can't imagine what it's like now.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 6 points 22 hours ago

That is musk's personal feed

[–] IntrovertTurtle@lemmy.zip 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Holy fucking hell. I've never seen a more deranged list of objective falsehoods. How many different drugs are these people on?

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Drugs don’t make you that way

[–] thorhop@sopuli.xyz 6 points 23 hours ago (2 children)
[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Are you offering?

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 23 hours ago

I used to live on ketamine and dxm

[–] prex@aussie.zone 8 points 23 hours ago

Not drugs, electricity.

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 10 points 23 hours ago

The amount of propaganda is unreal. If the roles were reversed, the USA had banned Xitter for foreign interference long ago.

[–] elvith@feddit.org 11 points 1 day ago

Oh gosh, what did I just witness?!

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

Does he just spend all day on twitter? What a fucking deranged feed

I foresee elon's buddy in crime to put tariffs on France in retaliation.

[–] lemonySplit@lemmy.ca 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

You mean more tariffs on Americans? Nobody in France is paying shit. Its you guys that pay the tariffs

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 3 points 16 hours ago

I believe that commenter is in Canada so they're not either.

[–] Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.org 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lol. I wonder if this will come to anything.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 7 points 23 hours ago

Him? With all that money. You're dreaming.
