This is just plain awful.

Those people who proclaim that Trump is a fascist and then when you ask "If he is really a fascist, are you telling me that the only thing you did about having a fascist government was to vote against them and complain about it to your friends on social media?" all they give you a vacant stare in response are bad enough.

Here's a person telling you "There's a credible threat to democracy and I believe the people who are behind it have the power to achieve their goals" and their solution is to vote? Lol good luck. Did voting stop January 6th?

This pitiful excuse for a call to action is the equivalent of discovering that your building is on fire and going on Facebook to remind everyone to check the batteries in their smoke detectors.

Progressives have absolutely zero concept of praxis and that's entirely by design.

[-] Meh@hexbear.net 22 points 7 months ago

But but! If we were to actually do anything that would prevent them from returning to power, we would be just as bad as them!

[-] MayoPete@hexbear.net 21 points 7 months ago

I got permabanned from reddit-logo for telling libs to arm themselves

[-] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

well voting didn't stop january 6 because we didn't vote on it..see the problem is we didn't get to vote in that case and we have to vote to make sure we get the chance to vote next time before something like that can happen

[-] Mokey@hexbear.net 71 points 7 months ago

if all it takes to stop fascism is a vote for a president no one wants, were already in fascism.

[-] Sephitard9001@hexbear.net 18 points 7 months ago

In America, it's freedom to only have one possible choice to vote for. In Russia, that's called dictatorship!!! smuglord

[-] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 61 points 7 months ago

There's no voting against fascists by supporting people who won't imprison or kill them. A vote for Hindenburg is a vote for Hitler.

[-] betelgeuse@hexbear.net 50 points 7 months ago

Damn the fascists just executed Pelosi on the national mall! Get the ballots we need to vote right now!

[-] D3FNC@hexbear.net 12 points 7 months ago

Look just hear me out, but ... uncritical support.

[-] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 43 points 7 months ago

eviscerated this other person is openly flaunting that they dont care about election results!!! WE MUST VOTE HARDER!!!! i-voted

[-] Sasuke@hexbear.net 33 points 7 months ago

as someone who regrettably didn't vote the last time the ch*eto got into office, i'm making up for it this year by throwing in several votes for hillary

[-] Sasuke@hexbear.net 29 points 7 months ago

if everyone here voted enough times we could stop fascism for good

[-] RustyVenture@hexbear.net 32 points 7 months ago

Can’t lose what you never had to begin with edgeworth-smug

[-] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 28 points 7 months ago

The guy is a shitheel but he's very clearly joking. Like mf he's laughing at you and your response is to keep doing this silly shit even harder.

[-] Adkml@hexbear.net 36 points 7 months ago

Yea but it's also the annoying thing these cowards do where they say that and then do the lol just joking unless thing.

They're saying it to troll the libs but they would also do it if they thought they could get away with it.

[-] goose@hexbear.net 23 points 7 months ago

It’s “ha ha only serious” as political discourse

“If I say my fascist shit while making the Dreamworks face, it’s technically le epic troll”

[-] Kestrel@hexbear.net 16 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Reminder that Jack Poopoopeee tried to cheat on his wife on Bumble and she left him lmao

[-] Thief_of_Crows@lemmy.ml 28 points 7 months ago

I would vote against them, but the other guy is doing a genocide. Feels slightly more important. Besides, we've already demonstrated the government can survive a coup attempt

[-] frogloom@hexbear.net 27 points 7 months ago

we vote against you ignoring voting. what are you gonna do now?

[-] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 26 points 7 months ago

farce version of that "repeal the 20th century" speech by pat buchanan or whoever the fuck

[-] goose@hexbear.net 25 points 7 months ago

I would vote right now if I could. I would vote so fucking hard

[-] pumpchilienthusiast@hexbear.net 20 points 7 months ago

im getting so civic right now... are you getting civic too? if so i know a booth we can go to

[-] zifnab25@hexbear.net 22 points 7 months ago

These people are such buffoons. They aren't even fascists. Just cosplayers pretending they picked the winning side, while enshittification eats their lunch along with everyone else's.

They are absolutely fascist.

[-] zifnab25@hexbear.net 16 points 7 months ago

They're sitting around a Jan 6th pinball table and listening to Liz Truss whine about her abbreviated tenure while the work of fascism is done by others for their amusement.

This is, at best, the Netflix of Fascism.

[-] theposterformerlyknownasgood@hexbear.net 13 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

They are celebrating their last coup attempt while discussing the next one. The fact that they are comfortable, detached and stupid doesn't make them not fascists. Such descriptors also fit the nazis.

[-] zifnab25@hexbear.net 8 points 7 months ago

They are celebrating their last coup attempt

The temper tantrum on Jan 6th was barely a coup attempt. There was no leadership, no real plan of action, and no point to simply squatting in the capital while representatives - scared out of their minds at the mob - rushed Biden's certification through that much faster.

The fact that they are comfortable, detached and stupid

They're not the ones who are getting picked up and slapped with criminal charges by the DC Area DA's office. These were the clowns calling the Jan 6thers "Antifa" in the first hours of the riot and then quickly disassociating from them because of the embarrassment. They're only cheering it on now, long after the dust settles, because its an easy grift and a fun little fantasy.

[-] theposterformerlyknownasgood@hexbear.net 5 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

It was a full on coup attempt in which people stormed the fucking capitol and threatened to lynch politicians. That the people behind these insane movements are getting away with it is not proof it wasn't a coup attempt, it's proof of the same shit that the nazis getting a slap on the wrist for the beer hall putsch and their elite supporters getting off scott free was.

[-] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 7 months ago

people kinda just sauntered in as the cops stepped aside.. climbing the walls and shit was unnecessary and more for dramatic effect than anything else.. the vast majority of them just moseyed around the capitol and left when they were told to leave... a minority of them got uppity and a little bit pushy.. but even they fucked right off once a gun was fired

You realise of course that "the police are complicit" is not a defense.

[-] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 7 months ago

no but its not like there was a threat whatsoever... i watched that shit live... for weeks afterward even the state media weren't sure what they witnessed

[-] RavenFellBlade@startrek.website 22 points 7 months ago

Maybe if we ask nicely, David Copperfield will just make all the fascists vanish?

[-] Sickos@hexbear.net 21 points 7 months ago

Don't blame me, I voted for Hindenberg.

[-] Anne_Teefa@hexbear.net 20 points 7 months ago

"Democracy is dead and no one cares" Rent Treznor 1994 or whatever

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 19 points 7 months ago

What the fuck is wrong with them?

[-] NuraShiny@hexbear.net 16 points 7 months ago

Toothless idiots "They want to destroy the thing we are voting in! Vote against them!"

[-] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 13 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Okay, smart guy. What happens when the majority of people vote to end democracy?

Libs seem to forget that we (in this case both us and liberals) lost the culture wars.

When I'm not voting I'm thinking about voting or planning how to vote and if I'm going to vote early or go in after work election day, and I work 11 hr days on Tuesdays.

[-] alcoholicorn@hexbear.net 8 points 7 months ago

You're still planning this late in the game? The election is in November, I've already voted 4,763 times.

[-] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 7 months ago

my family goes way back, so they already know which way we vote and they just go ahead and put it in for us... except that fucker larry who broke his poor grandpappy's heart by asking dumb questions like he's going to think about voting for someone else.. back in the day they woulda just taken him out back behind the barn but now you got all your snowflake laws and whatnot making it not worth the effort

[-] HAL_9_TRILLION@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 7 months ago

ha ha lol i troll u - Jack Posobiec, probably

[-] ComradeLove@hexbear.net 7 points 7 months ago

It was said as a joke. More like a joke and a wink, but still, the tone wasn't all Dr Evil.

[-] Raebxeh@hexbear.net 11 points 7 months ago
