Has anyone reminded the cows that it's just the flu, and they really should just suck it up and get back to work?

Cheeseburger, but do carrion.

[-] Crikeste@lemm.ee 17 points 3 months ago

They should try and infect every cow so they can build up resistance. 🤓

Fun fact: the earliest known case of the 1918 "Spanish flu" was in Kansas.

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

The "German cockroach" didn't originate from Germany.

[-] esc27@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

That one has an excuse - it's named after Samuel German.

I really thought you were gonna say English Muffin. 🥴

[-] shield_gengar@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

If we have another pandemic on top of the current one I will be displeased.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 12 points 3 months ago

None of them are even good plagues, there were no zombies and I still had to go to work. I don't think it should count if you still have to go to work.

That article is so poorly written by either LLM or some SEO bro, I can't share it in good conscience.

[-] ignirtoq@fedia.io 28 points 3 months ago

It's been hitting South America hard. Only a matter of time until it spread to the US.

Mystery Illness Impacting Texas, Kansas

Only a matter of time until it spread to the US.

...good distinction.

[-] solidgrue@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

Damn, son. Well played

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 3 months ago

I don't know, they always have wanted to secede

[-] ignirtoq@fedia.io 5 points 3 months ago

I meant now that they have identified the mystery illness as the highly pathogenic avian flu, it's not surprising that it has moved into the US. It has been in South America for several seasons, and avian flu can be carried by migratory birds. It was only a matter of time until it spread like this.

Unfortunate, but not surprising.

Elderly cows can take care of themselves and wouldn’t want to sacrifice their grandcalf’s economic future. Keep them all together going strong.

[-] MeDuViNoX@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago

Feed them to the rich in tartar form.
