Summary

A Norwegian student in his 20s was arrested for allegedly spying for Russia and Iran while working as a security guard at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo.

Norway’s domestic intelligence agency, PST, suspects him of activities damaging to national security and found evidence of his communications with a handler.

The man admitted to collecting and sharing information but denies espionage charges.

He is also a security and preparedness student at Arctic University, which has seen prior espionage cases.

Norway is increasing border security amid tensions with Russia.

Where there's one, methinks there would be more.

There's one heading to the white house

And he immediately nominated another Russian asset to head our National Intelligence community. MAGA chuds might think they won this election, but they're just useful idiots. This victory belongs solely to Vladimir Putin.

Roach rules. For every one you see there's ten you don't.

I dust roaches with boric acid 'roach powder' so they will go back to their lair and poison their friends.

[-] teije9@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

This doesn't really work with roaches. it works really well with ants, since they drink it, feed it to their larvae, sisters and queen, who then all die. (if you dissolve it in water)

[-] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

Uh, roaches straight up eat roaches. Why would it not work?

It works pretty well for me

[-] teije9@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago

sry, nvm, I confused boric acid and borax, which kills insects by solidifying inside their bodies.

[-] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Think it'd work on Russian agents?

[-] teije9@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago

afaik they don't puke half digested food in each others mouths to make sure they all get to eat, so no.

Countries are always spying on each other, particularly their embassies.

[-] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 1 points 1 week ago

Yep, and sometimes they get caught, charged, sentenced.

[-] BruceTwarzen@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

Or they become president

[-] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 19 points 1 week ago

The man admitted to collecting and sharing information but denies espionage charges.

Um?

[-] SupraMario@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Dumb enough to spy for russia...$100 says his handler told him it's not technically spying lol

Lol we'are about to get Russian agents in the executive branch accusing Chinese dissidents of being CCP spies, while simultaneously allow actual CCP spies to stay and harass dissidents.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Just become president and you can speak to your handler with no fear of being charged.

The 4d chess version of this story. Money is the universal solvent for problems.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago

I mean, look at our next president. This is over. There's no need to worry any longer about spies. We are fully compromised. America has been sold to Russia.

[-] ZeroCool@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 week ago

And yet Tulsi Gabbard is about to become the Director of National Intelligence.

[-] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I don't remember when, but I'm sure this happened a while ago, as I remember reading about it in our domestic papers. August, maybe? A few months ago, at least.

EDIT: Ah, I see he admitted to it. I guess that's the update. The arrest was, as mentioned, long ago.
