Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Thank you. I just printed out a PDF of your written list. Here's hoping it finds it way into the court of a future Nuremberg trial.

I got an Orwellian warning from those motherfuckers at Reddit that said I upvote too many posts that "glorify violence"(!?!?). I guess because I believe all Nazis can die?

I'm finally out for good. If they want a safe space for the loser racists at /r/conservative they can have it!

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 76 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (5 children)

Violent content is when conservative's feeling are hurt. You can hate on minorities has much as you want, just don't call that nazi bitch Elon a nazi bitch.

Yeah, big time fuck reddit vibes over here. Had been a member for... um... like 18 years? Posting for 15 (I only know that for sure because I lost my original acct because Google are shitheads, but I can search the old username and see all of my 20 something (age) comments if I so desire. 😅). When fElon Must started talking about redditors being terrorists was the final straw, and I meticulously deleted every comment (thousands and thousands) I ever made, had like 100,000 comment karma 😔 and then deleted my acct. There is no publicly visible record my newer acct ever existed now. I miss how it used to be back in the aughts, was a seriously special place back then. The bots, and morons just got to be too much tho. I was dealing, but the last thing I'm willing to go down for is a shit load of benign but honest anti trump and must comments, freedom of speech my ass. It's uterly insane what's gone down in the last couple months in America. Just fucking bizarro world shit, tbs.

I’m here just to say I love y’all. What he’s doing right now is directly affecting me and my job. This support means a lot. Thank you <3

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 week ago

We need to fuck up their system, no matter how. Never surrender.

Hmmm, erm71... Interesting attempt to hide

[–] JackFrostNCola@lemmy.world 110 points 1 week ago (5 children)

With a quick google, what are the chances that erm71 is code for "Elon Reeve Musk 1971".
There no way that a tech savvy individual would do something as simple as use his name and DOB for usernames and email addresses... Whats his password "teslarulez1971!"?

[–] Dashi@lemmy.world 47 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm sure that is exactly what it means. The point was to hide it a little bit, it's not the standard first.last of everyone else but to make it still uniquely identifiable as musk. It's not a completely unheard of practice to hide potential high spam targets. The goal isn't to completely hide, just make it slightly harder to find

[–] brygphilomena@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 1 week ago

This is why scraping LinkedIn works so well. Using the consistent email format gets you to your target easily. I've used it to get the contact info of the CTO of American Airlines before (his auto-reply included his cell number.)

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (3 children)

That's security through obscurity, and it doesn't work in the long run.

It is interesting that Reddit took it upon themselves to remove it. They are government employees, those aren't their private addresses, but end with ".gov". This seems to be public data.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

but it's fascism time; bootlickers gonna bootlick. gotta protect the fascists from judgment by the people. expect less and less transparency moving forward, all sorts of public information getting concealed, and both mainstream media and social media corporations helping them.

Wow, sure would be a shame if someone steganographically embedded all the info into a bunch of meme images and then posted them, wouldn’t it?

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 53 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't know what to do with this.

But I sure hope someone does.

one fun thing we can already see; they're .gov addresses, so it's clearly not OUTSIDE the government. this is officially a government action, if laws still existed, that would have all sorts of interesting implications for everyone involved.

they don't, but, like, if they did.

[–] Yppm@lemy.lol 50 points 1 week ago (2 children)

erm71 could be a username he uses often...

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Yeah, most of them look generated but it looks like that guy chose his email. I bet he uses that elsewhere, and I bet he's dumb enough to be on some password list somewhere

Edit : https://haveibeenpwned.com/ erm71@gmail.com shows a few interesting pwns. I bet you could find those lists and run a few shots at that .gov email

[Removed by Reddit]

Been a minute since I've seen that. And that's actually one huge advantage of the Fediverse. There can't be a [Removed by Lemmy] because 'Lemmy' is a federation of servers with their own rules and regulations and aren't even all based in the USA. And if any server starts these shenanigans, you can just move to another.

Although I do wish that profiles and comment history could be preserved from one server to another. That's basically the last piece of the puzzle that would give the user a completely a completely free experience.

is this seriously it? 26 people are supposed to know enough about the inner workings of all these departments to be able to fire staff?

there is not even an attempt to appear competent

Funny seeing Musk on this list after his "I'm just a consultant" bit.
