Then Diogenes comes cruising through in an RV.

Ancient "science" is kinda like this sometimes tbh

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 33 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Modern science too, if the question is big enough.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 weeks ago

I feel like all science is like this to an extent

Like, chicks get breast cancer a lot. Is it the estrogen? Let's put some of that in a mouse and see what happens

Of course modern researchers are more interested in like "MSRB acrolase enzymes" or whatever, but same diff

Same for doors. We are really narrowing it down now!

Let's think of some differences. Cars have license plates and steering wheels.

There's one angle that I feel like we're not acknowledging: maybe it's something in the house that makes it not go. Sinks, or perhaps beds?

[–] somedev@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago

Hmm, that can't be it either. I've seen caravans with beds and sinks and they go.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 1 month ago

It's not the human either. Believe me I've seen cars move by itself

When you come to the comments for answers, and it's just people telling jokes

[–] darvocet@infosec.pub 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's the hood that does it. Houses don't have hoods. Well, lots of houses can make up a hood but i think that's different.

You...I...you know what never mind. It is just not worth it.

Seagulls have wings and can fly. Ostriches have wings and can't fly. So it's not the wings that make the seagulls fly, it's something else entirely.

[–] Denixen@feddit.nu 4 points 4 weeks ago

This is in a way true. If ostriches weight less or had bigger wing area (like, absurdly large), they would be able to fly. So it isn't the wings per se as you say. Interesting.

The Pakleds are interested. This is basically Pakled philosophy.

"Windows make us go?"

Cuts hole in spaceship; gets vented into vacuum

[–] Azzu@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

So the window did make them go

[–] MyNameIsIgglePiggle@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Having recently lived through a hurricane and can vouch that houses, can, in fact, go.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 5 points 4 weeks ago

I knew it wasn't that simple. Some more research is definitely required.

Did your house have a radio? I'm working on a completely new hypothesis.

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Cars have rubber bladed things that automatically clear water off of some of the windows but houses do not.

[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

I bet this is it! I'm going to install some in my house and see what happens. Pray for me!

[–] limer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 month ago

Have you checked to see if the foundations are the same ?

The windows on the bus don’t go round and round?
