After years of trying to build a solid workout routine I've managed to do at least 40 min of cardio every morning for the last two months, to the point where I'm craving more.

I've started taking my writing seriously as well, and after some online courses have vastly improved over the last year. I'm working on a collection of short stories now.

I am moving out of Texas. Our house goes on the market in a couple of weeks and once it's sold we'll be heading to New England.

[–] sifr@retrolemmy.com 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Jealous. I will be stuck here for the foreseeable future.

[–] hactar42@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

I tried to stick out as long as I could, but we really have no choice anymore. I have a child with special needs and it's been a struggle to get him the services he is legally entitled to. Now without the Dept of Education things are only going to get worse.

I wish you well and hope you can get out soon.

Very recent, I'm still in the glowy happy haze of it. My partner and I just got married and we've got an old, fixer-upper property that we plan to make into our own haven of weirdness haha I'm excited to keep building this wild life together.

[–] bpt11@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago

That's so fire I wish I had an old fixer upper property, that's like literally my dream

I get to sing in three concerts in the next five weeks. All three are going to be very fun, and one of them is at Carnegie Hall!

[–] lwuy9v5@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Wow! Is that a career? What's the coolest place or thing you've performed?

[–] TheRealKuni@midwest.social 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Is that a career?

Nope, choral singing is something I do as a volunteer. But I do it a lot! Primarily with my local symphony chorus, another small local group, and occasionally on tours.

This will be my third time singing at Carnegie, which is always fun. Hard to say the coolest place I’ve performed, but definitely up there is the American cemetery in Normandy, France. Also Winchester Cathedral in the UK.

The coolest thing I’ve performed is also tough. Literally my first concert with the symphony chorus was a performance of The Two Towers. Like, the movie played while we performed the soundtrack. It was incredible. I’ve gotten to do a few of those movie concerts. I also really love when we get to do video game music, those concerts are always a blast. Getting to shout the grunts in the Dragonborn song from Skyrim on a stage is so cool.

And then of course there’s Carmina Burana which features O Fortuna which most people have heard somewhere, and Verdi’s Requiem which features the most terrifyingly awesome Dies Irae of all time. Staples like Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven’s 9th are always a blast.

I’m seriously privileged to have the talent and opportunity to participate in this stuff. It’s so much fun.

In May my spouse and I are going away together for a few days without the kids for the first time in a decade.

The tulip and daffodil leaves are emerging in our gardens and soon we will have flowers.

Our church is starting up again this week & I love choir.

I have an appointment to get my first tattoo this afternoon!

[–] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Oooooh what are you getting

[–] rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Something of personal significance, thanks for asking! I'll have to think about if/when I want to post it publicly. At any rate I just got home from the appointment and it all went wonderfully! I'm already planning my next one.

[–] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 2 points 5 days ago

Haha they are addictive! Wish there was some tattoo communities on lemmy

I can't wait to be able to garden again in a few weeks.

[–] doomcanoe@sh.itjust.works 6 points 6 days ago

I'm so excited I wet my plants!

[–] DireTech@lemm.ee 4 points 6 days ago

Tried skiing and it was really fun. Surprisingly did not hurt myself wiping out or crashing into a tree.

Thinking of trying snowboarding next year.

I have a trip to Japan coming up very shortly that I'm looking forward to. Made a few Cafe reservations a little while ago, I'll be riding with a drift instructor around a few tracks at Ebisu Circuit, planning on visiting Nara to see the deer, going to a few PokeCenters, and visiting a bunch of second hand stores for books, games, and merch.

[–] bpt11@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

That's awesome! I have friends that are trying to set up a trip to Japan around november ish, I'd love to go but I dunno if I can afford it

[–] keysmash2009@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

I'm going on a vacation to South Carolina with my girlfriend and her family for a week. I've never been there, so I'm excited to see what's in store

[–] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

The collapse of the US into civil war

[–] vvilld@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

My younger daughter's 3rd birthday is next week. That'll be pretty fun.

We're also going on a family vacation this summer across the country. We had been planning to fly, but after comparing prices we discovered it would be cheaper to rent an RV and make it a road trip. I'm looking forward to doing that with my kids.

It's looking like it's going to be a good year for gaming.

Games I'm looking forward to:

Subnautica 2 The Outer Worlds 2 Death Stranding 2 (possibly. I'll wait for reviews) GTA 6 (Assuming there is an offline, kernal DRM free mode) Solarpunk Paralives

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago

Timberborn’s experimental branch adds some cool shit and the mods are patching for compatibility. New gaming addiction.

[–] MajorHavoc@programming.dev 2 points 6 days ago

If Subnautica 2 delivers on the multi player co-op, I could see it joining my primary LAN party rotation. Exciting stuff.

[–] Chef_Boyardee@lemm.ee 4 points 6 days ago

The start of the baseball season! Go, Gunnar! Go, Adley! Go, Westy! Go, Mounty! Go, O's!

[–] grasshopper_mouse@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

The weekend.

Small shout-out to

[–] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

I finally got a new dishwasher to replace the one that was spewing water, and my husband promised he'd tackle getting the laundry washing machine replaced with one that works soon. I'm very excited for when i get to stop going to the laundromat!

[–] OceanSoap@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Just learned from my neighbor that the back door of the house I just bought floods during summer monsoons, so I'm going to spend the next few weekends digging a trench out to the street to give any future downpours a path away from my back door.

[–] janus2@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 days ago

good neighbor

[–] Genjar@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

I have a cash poker game tonight with some friends, should be a good time!

Our country is trialling the UTI vaccine. Think of other advancement we made since COVID.
