With Trump & Co at the helm? HA.

Biden literally said he would veto M4A bill

Liberals when conservatives are in charge "We can't do anything at all right now because Nazis are in charge, you moron tankies!"

Liberals when liberals are in charge "We can't do anything good right now because that will jeopardize our ability to work with ~~the Nazies~~ conservatives, you moron tankies!"

So just repeat the strategy that got us Biden, brilliant.

The dems have ran three different uninspiring neoliberals with identical policies in a row.

One barely managed to squeak out a win because the sitting president seemingly intentionally mismanaged a pandemic and killed an extra 1.5 million people, and the drms still barely won that one.

Obviously the lesson to this is we need to find another uninspiring neoliberal with identical policies and the more important lesson is that Americans won't vote for anybody else so definitely don't try.

The last time the dems ran on an actually progressive platform they had to invent term limits after getting elected 4 times in a row.

I think dems really have accepted the GOP’s narrative that “real” Americans are rural/suburban white guys in hard hats who love their bosses, used car salesmen who love their bosses…and the bosses themselves!

White men make up just 30% of the population, and millionaires and higher make up like 1%. I think a coherent message of “we will get you out of your parents basement and get the pigs off your back” will resonate with the 70% marginalized by society and enough of that 30% white men to form a coalition. If that means alienating white men who aren’t even voting for dems anyways, so be it.

Sure, I’ve grown disillusioned with bourgeoisie electoralism, but the least they can do is make an attempt to prove me wrong.

That's the frustrating part I'm a straight white guy from one of the most rural places east of the Mississippi but dems keep telling me what I really want is a neoliberal who will cut benefits from my neighbors.

Hard being a redneck lefty, definitely learned to not like people who weren't like us growing up but I always thought that meant rich people.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, redneck lefty as well. Seeing Kamala parade around with the Cheneys felt like a personal attack to people like us

“Here’s a Cheney, you dumb poors in dying rust belt towns like the Cheneys right? Vote for us because we found some republicans that endorsed us! See, we’re not so scary!”

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

It's especially frustrating being from rural new york because I know everybody around me correctly thought Trump was a dumbass city con artist who didnt pay contractors. Until he got really explicit with the racism and they suddenly all started supporting him.

Okay see I think the reason to have lofty unachievable goals is so that you always labor toward them and in that laboring you make the world better as you go along. You make compromises. But you have a goal out of reach so you keep reaching for it.

Liberals see the compromise as the goal. That's their lofty aspiration. That's their North Star. They are afraid that if they go for more they'll lose what they got. Or at least that seems to be the nugget of their argument and hesitation.

Problem is we already have a movement that's terrified of change because they don't want to lose what they got. They're called conservatives.

And no amount of the current "conservative" movements pivoting to outright regressive stances or trying to "turn back the clock" will change that. Standing still might look like progress when compared to moving backward. But it isn't progress.

So you tell the next "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" pragmatic liberal naysayer to fuck off.

How do they think elections work? Do they think you just come out and say "woohoo my teams so cool vote for meeeee!" like your supposed to have a policy platform that appeals to people. So they'll vote for you. Did the libs forget about that because they've spent a decade saying orange man bad?

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

They have forgotten. Their policy is "we are 100% Hitler. What are you going to do, vote for 101% Hitler?"

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Only the rightoids have ever gotten away with that. They’re the default for a reason.

Dems are ontologically “the alternative”, it’s up to them to propose a coherent alternative to the status quo and it’s disgusting and flat out evil on how they all are useless thumb twiddlers.

But hey, at least the internet popular kids didn’t call you Soyboy or SJW. Bill Burr is able to handle them in stride, but you do you!

[–] radio_free_asgarthr@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

When Republicans are in power we need to stop offering any alternative other than being blue Republicans. I am smart!

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Libs have such loser energy and it’s dragging other liberals down.

Did our immense moisturized lad wait until Obama was out before proposing building the wall? How about the gop proposing all the horrible shit they want to do to minorities of any kind? This conversation never happened.

the-republican: “You silly hog, we can’t pass more special treatment for white men! There’s OBUMMER in the White House! Let’s be just like the dems because our priority is beating the dems!”

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Never in the history of power grabs has that ever happened. I hope this radicalized more people against the Dems.

Like... What are they even offering the true believers™?

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They’re so afraid of alienating anyone they end up alienating everyone.

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

I love how they don't tone police anymore. They scold, belittle and call names. Not a great way to get support.

[–] adultswim_antifa@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

They think we can fix the US without changing anything, and only then we will be able to change stuff.

[–] funky_tomatoe@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Media, donor, and electoral reforms matter so much more than actual policy ideas. Obama had 8 years and Biden had 4, but all their good policies were pointless because faux news and the Kremlin continued to stream out lies.

It's a revolting truth, but we will trip in the shit if we keep staring at heaven.

I'm sorry but if you're this stupid you deserve Trump

Challenge level: Impossible

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

There's just no charitable read on that world view. They had 12 of the last 20 years and still fumbled the ball?

[–] Bartsbigbugbag@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I see the libs are still advocating for a “no policy, just fuck trump” platform. Worked out great before, didn’t it?

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

They want him to run for a third term so bad

Absolutely. But this is where the blue sky liberals get their talking points. Everyone wants to pretend reddit is dead, but it's still where content aggregators collect stuff to amplify on more popular websites that reach actual organic eyeballs.

I hate the internet.
