too bad the party doesn't have a mechanism of enforcing any kind of party discipline with the objective of achieving specific political goals

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 28 points 3 days ago

It certainly does, the problem is that it's political goals are all terrible

I am genuinely concerned that Fetterman is going to murder his wife and kids and then kill himself

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 41 points 3 days ago

Me too. If I heard that his wife and kids had done something extreme like fled to Canada in the middle of the night - I'd be pleased.

In Schumer's opinion: he is the future of the party

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 41 points 3 days ago (1 children)

he the future of the dnc

Also simultaneously its past ouroboros

[–] goferking0 5 points 2 days ago

I thought that was one of the reasons they would consider him the future?

In Schumer's imaginary constituents opinion: he's the future of the party

"Democrats are haunted by the physical manifestation of their sins: How will this impact the midterms?"

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 40 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The more isolated he is, the more depressed he is. Good.

The more angry he is, the higher his blood pressure is. Good.

The Little Thrombus That Could

This sentence mentions just a minor thing. But it's filmic and it sort of creeps me out that he sits there in the dark.

His staff has frequently canceled meetings he has scheduled with constituents or others in his Senate office, with Fetterman declining to join them in a nearby conference room and instead sitting in his darkened office on his phone, three former staffers said.

The fucking article doesn't explain why? But if Fetterman were to say it's a post-stroke health issue and lighting can bother him - I don't know if I'd believe that. I think he's deeply fucked up.

[–] TerminalEncounter@hexbear.net 38 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I mean, it sounds like he's profoundly depressed which was an ongoing thing for him before his stroke. To be clear, you can be any awful evil person AND depressed lol

He does not have to keep being a senator, he can resign any time citing health concerns or whatever. He's doing this all to himself and I guess the dems have to reap those consequences because no one wants to lean on him to just fucking go already (cause otherwise they'd have even fewer senators even though the only critical thresholdsare 49 and 39 to at least get to filibuster)

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 29 points 3 days ago

He does not have to keep being a senator

I mean even in this situation I'd rather keep making $174,000 a year. Not like he's gonna find another job that's any good unless it's even more embarrassing than this one.

[–] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 26 points 3 days ago (2 children)

could be just typical anti-social phone addiction/doom scrolling

[–] TerminalEncounter@hexbear.net 23 points 3 days ago

The senator is doom scrolling in a dark office

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago

People doomscroll in the dark? If I started doing that - I'd be broken within a week or two.

Gotta take him to the Rose Garden and tell him about the place they’re gonna have with the cows and the pigs and maybe the chickens, with the alfalfa for the rabbits.
