Russia didn't say this. The clown Medvedev did. I call bullshit.

Maybe read the fuckin' article before writing a comment.

Edit: Also, fuck newsweek for spreading panic and ~~borderline false~~ misleading information.

[–] mcv@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago

Medvedev's credibility is low indeed. He's always the one to do the nuclear sabre rattling.

Even so, I wonder if this might not work as a devious plan for them. Give Iran a nuke, and if they use it offensively, they'll be the ones testing the rest of the world about what they're going to do about it without any risk of Russia getting turned into a steppe of glass.

Israel might get destroyed, Iran might get destroyed, but Russia will survive. And if Iran survives, that gives Russia more confidence that they will too if they use a nuclear bomb.

After the third bottle of vodka, I too like to threaten everybody with nuclear war. The mainstream media are suppressing that information, though.

[–] nebulaone@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This guy knows. I disagree about mainstream media suppressing information, though (at least in germany). I have often checked with countless reputable independent sources and this simply isn't the case.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can positively confirm that the German mainstream media game never reported on my vodka fuelled antics. Might have to do with the fact that I prefer beer anyway.

[–] nebulaone@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh shit, my bad. You might want to forward this info to Wikileaks and be careful.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Hmm. But if I take your advice, how do I know, you're not one of them?

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's the head of Russias security council

Read a little closer

[–] nebulaone@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's probably just as accurate as his countless previous threats.

[–] BlemboTheThird@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

For sure, but the argument being made here isn't that Medvedev is speaking truth, but that he can be referred to with "Russia says." Which, yeah, he's a mouthpiece for the Russian government, so that checks out, accuracy of the statement notwithstanding.

I may have gotten a little angry after reading all of the first comments on this post. So I'd like to apologize.

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 14 points 1 day ago

This doesn't seem credible, but if it is Trump just set off a very concerning chain of events.

Why are all the leaders such pieces of shit losers

Those who seek power over others don't deserve it.

Great. So we rolled Nuclear Holocaust Apocalypse. Maybe after the reset we'll learn our lesson. Humanity still has a long ass way to go.

Live like Kim or die like Gaddafi.

Good. Israel and the United States are fucking rogue states that have torn up the international order. If all that's left is the law of the jungle then Iran needs nuclear weapons as Israel is clearly able to do what it likes, including genocide and use of nuclear warheads. And Iran needs a viable deterrent to ensure that Israel will suffer massive consequences if it tried anything

[–] Yurnero91@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wasn't it Russia that has torn up the international order?

Then followed Isreal and then USA.

But maybe you like Russia and therefore your memory is a lil' bad 😊

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't think anyone disputed that Russia committed a war crime against Ukraine by invading. However literally no Western country is saying the same thing about Israel and the US's completely unprovoked attack on Iran.

Not to mention Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza which the West are doing nothing to stop even though they are obliged to act under the Genocide Convention.

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You don't need to fight. You are both right. No one in this thread is in the club making these decisions.

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I agree we are just micturating in the wind but US corporate media is taken with a delusional bloodlust and it's important to respond with facts in the face of manufactured consent for bombing a country that is no threat to the US.

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 7 points 1 day ago

The sooner you realize you, me, and the other person are all on the same team, the sooner you will start to be able to change minds.

The person you're talking to probably knows all about corporate media and its influence. Just like you probably know a bunch about state run media and its influence.

Perfect. The Orange Turd is going to kill us all

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago
