Real "I was banned simply for having a difference of opinion" vibes

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 70 points 6 days ago (1 children)

My guy you could have not done war crimes.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 28 points 5 days ago

Sorry you have to pick one

"Its unclear scope has alarmed Jews"

Implying Canadian Jews that didn't choose to participate in a genocide should be worried. Aint no antisemite like a Zionist

If you're scared shitless of "international lawfare," maaaaaybe you're on the wrong side of history?

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Skinner meme: No, it's international law that's wrong!

The fake "investigation" is unnecessary; if somebody served in the IDF they should simply be executed.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 24 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Seems like a skill issue. I would simply not commit war crimes, then there wouldn't be a problem.

[–] spudnik@hexbear.net 11 points 5 days ago

Yeah I'm doing great at it rn, it's not even that hard

[–] TheThrillOfTime@lemmy.ml 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Apparently if you join the IDF you have to commit crimes against humanity.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago

If you go to volunteer in the IDF, it is like going to volunteer for the SS in WW2. People going and doing this know exactly what the IDF does, and that is why they are joining. Don't fall for a fascist's crocodile tears when they say they had no idea about the atrocities the group was committing. They do know, that's why they join, they just want their atrocities to be consequence free.

[–] Yllych@hexbear.net 26 points 6 days ago

Of course these Zionists want to make this out to be a pogrom. Very telling that , even though the probes mission is just a lame international-human rights-blah statement heard a million times from governments, something that pathetic is still somehow extremely dangerous to Zionist soldiers.

More interestingly, If certain parts of the article are to be believed, is the Crown trying to assure these soldiers that they are more inclined to investigating so called crimes of Hamas, collecting a body of bullshit evidence (lies), and from there prosecuting people "with an appropriate nexus to Canada."

Seems to me that, if this isn't buried as politically inconvenient by the Liberals, what will come if this will be at most symbolic arrests of a handful of Zionists, and a much larger prosecution of Canadians with Palestinian sympathies.

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 7 points 4 days ago

If your "home" is in Canada, why the fuck are you off doing genocide for Israel?

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 21 points 5 days ago

international lawfare

I seriously want to beat people upside the head with a bat who treat international law like it's a crime (which quite often seems to leave me only wanting to beat other Westerners upside the head)

[–] dkr567@hexbear.net 22 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

So much for their only home being the "holy land". Canadian government will welcome them back like how they welcome waffen SS soldiers and literal nazis.

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

So parliament is going to give them a medal?

[–] OgdenTO@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

And a standing ovation and refuse to release their names

Rising international lawfare

Oh noes, their one of many weaknesses!

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 16 points 6 days ago (2 children)

i wish there was a link to this article/story because it's confusing; why do canadians have to server the idf? or did they join of their own accord like hemmingway did in spain?

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

A LOT of Israelis are dual-nationals. That's because all you need to do to move to Israel is be Jewish and then you have """""right of "return"""""" and they'll even give you a nice boost to help settle and colonize and displace Palestinians.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 5 points 5 days ago (2 children)

i guess it's confusing because my own dual nationality status doesn't include mandatory military service; but i guess it does if one of your countries enjoys doing genocides themselves.

also: i always had this impression of aanadians being better global citizens than americans and it's sad to learn that they're not.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago

Being better than Americans is kinda default cause they are the worst. But Canada eould be just as bad if they were as powerful.

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 9 points 5 days ago

The only reason Canada has the appearance of being better global citizens is because they're right next to the fourth reich and look good in comparison. As soon as you look deeper the facade falls away and it's clear the Canadian state is just a cover for a handful of resource extraction corporations ravaging the global south

thank you!

“I was supposed to go to Canada last week,” N. told The Times of Israel in July. “But after the investigation was announced, I felt afraid to go home.”

oic, it's dual citizenship and fascinating that he considers canada to be his home, but fought for another country nonetheless.

Tensions between Jerusalem and Ottawa have also escalated in recent months. In May, Canada joined the United Kingdom and France in threatening “concrete actions” if Israel refused to stop the war in Gaza and allow in more aid.

and sad to learn that the canadians are just as onboard with the genocide as the french and british.

“What’s most upsetting is that they could be investigating me as if we’re the same as Hamas or other terror organizations,” he said. “It hurts. It feels like a betrayal.”

and another sad reminder that canadians are not much different than americans in this respect.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 13 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

a genocide investigation that doesn't explicitly target the soldiers committing the genocide?

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 12 points 6 days ago
[–] Pentacat@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago

What does he mean “home” if he’s not talking about the land promised to him 3000 years ago? God apparently promised these assholes the whole planet.

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 10 points 6 days ago

"if you came here tk perpetrate the genocide, you would already be home by now."

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago

a probe into possible war crimes (no one will be charged because obviously): international lawfare

a campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide using terror carpet bombings, mass starvation and human mouse traps: israel-hamas 'conflict'

it would be less disgusting for these pig "journalists" to spend all day wriggling in pig shit naked drinking horse urine as their only means of subsistence rather than writing articles like this. it takes all my strength not to fed post.

[–] altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 days ago

Canada persecuting people involved in a genocide of a native population? That's surprising to say the least.

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago

"Your honor, the prosecution is engaging in a propaganda operation that they call 'presenting evidence' and is farcically claiming that a so-called 'murder' has taken place. Moreover, they continue to insist that these paid actors are in fact 'witnesses' who claim to have seen me holding a bloody knife over the body of the alleged 'victim.' This is transparent lawfare and I demand to be released."
