In a less polarized and post truth world you’d probably be right. I fear however that the solid 36-37% maga base will never find an issue that can’t be spun or rationalized. In the magasphere this situation seems to be framed as the GOP stepping up to fight against free health care for illegal immigrants which seems divorced from reality.

They knew that if they owned the media, they could control what people thought, and no republican president would ever have to resign due to public outcry again.

After that it was gloves off and the billionaires gobbled up every aspect of the "news" industry and maintain almost exclusive control over what a majority of Americans hear.
TBF, the problem with media was well underway before Clinton came along. The Fairness Doctrine being done away with under Ronnie Raygun opened the floodgates.
Trump is posting on social media that Biden's administration was just giving SNAP benefits away. His idiot supporters are gonna believe it.
If the government can't afford to feed and heal the people, they shouldn't be building a ballroom. I was taught in school to pay for your needs before your wants.

I feel like dems should add to their list of demands- if the Rs dont agree to reverse course on Healthcare now, dems will not agree to reopen until all missed snap benefits are paid back retroactively- if it goes another week, they will not vote until ice is fully refunded, etc
"sound the alarm", horseshit. Just file the articles of impeachment and make the senators vote openly that they believe the executive branch ignoring a court order is okay. Senators should have to openly say it's okay to not remove someone for not following the rules /"laws" of the republic. Then as Trump keeps fucking everything up the Senators will have to realize either A. They are willing to surrender their job/career/ country to back a tryant,or B. They need to jump ship.
If its fine to not listen to the courts, then there is no reason for congress to exist. Their job is to write legislation that the courts ensure breakers of that legislation are punished.
They should have done so on many other occasions, but their failures are only adding up.
File the articles of impeachment over every single illegal action he is undertaking. Make it so congress is constantly dealing with impeachment hearing every second of every day till he is dead and buried.
While doing that make sure that you call for a constitutional convention, not an amendment or a series if amendments. A full on new constitution is needed to clear the shit out.
While the House of Representatives remains out have all the democratic representatives meet and broadcast it publicly. Do that every single day, talk policy and reforms and ask republican representatives to join the meeting. Make it painfully obvious that the democrats want to have a functioning government and not be held out like this endlessly.

Since he is ignoring courts now, what's stopping him from doing that anyway, even after government is open? The bill already severely cut snap benefits, and instructed agencies to stop reporting on hunger level in US, so it is not like he cares.

We're approaching a huge turning point in US (and world) history. Either republicans are going to mostly lose for a long time (at least 6 years if I were to guess), maybe until they demonstrate they've changed, OR they are going to succeed at rigging or cancelling elections so they don't have to give up power. I don't think we can expect much in between those two extremes. Makes my stomach queasy as hell to think about.
Which is why everyone should be prepared for them to inflict physical violence upon us, because it's coming either way.
You know how the right tried to twist the truth? They told, on camera, that Trump wants to continue SNAP but legally can't.
I really want to see a reporter ask them how that fits with reality now.

Can we create a Judicial Guard that is basically a force to enforce court rulings? Like whatever they have now is clearly not working. This happened under Andrew Jackson too, so don't tell me they never saw this coming.
There's one judge facing impeachment over standing up to Trump. It's time for the courts to nut up or shut up.

Can we please for the love of God have a judge actually enforce their order for once? He has shown over and over that he's just going to do what he wants. The rest of us would have to sleep on a jail bench for a few days then still be forced to comply.
So the message to poor Americans from Trump and the Republicans is "If we can't take away your health insurance assistance, we'll take away your food assistance."
And all so that they can pay for tax breaks for billionaires.
They're psychopaths. They really are - they are, and rather self-evidently, entirely unconstrained by morals, principles, empathy or conscience, so meet the DSM standards.
That don't just need to be voted out of office - they need to be institutionalized.
So when is that contempt warrant being issued?
Let that Federal Judge know that if he want to deputize citizens to carry out his orders, I will gladly help.
Nothing will happen until they are made to comply with physical force.
Or basically - using the exact same measures of enforcement that would be applicable to a normal citizen.
