If it's any consolation, you're much more likely to get killed by the police officer than the logging truck

If the avatar is real, she’ll be relatively safe unless she marries one.

[–] Twinklebreeze@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I didn't think it's true, but the avatar did have his lessons. 10/10 everyone should watch it. And not that James Cameron bullshit.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 12 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

It's funny because it's statistically true.

Ice cold reference! I never heard anyone else reference that one in regards to You Will Die In Remarkable Ways II.

You're a fucking spring blossom and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

My problem is I'm a corpse flower.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Those are the prettiest ones! Like, sunflowers!

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

And you are a ray of sunlight in this dark world. I like you. Please continue being you, and spread the joy!

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 3 points 3 months ago

Yes, spread happiness. I wish I had more of it myself, knowing how precious it is, I try to give it away as much as possible because it doesn't take away from my own, only adds to it.

I don’t remember a logging truck in kill bill

[–] lime@feddit.nu 22 points 3 months ago (8 children)

logs that fall off of trucks don't behave that way in real life so that's still a ticket

[–] Montagge@lemmy.zip 25 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Sounds exactly what death would say

Two hours later, both of you are still trying to guess which movie you're talking about

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Look, in the spirit of community, in case somebody isn't getting it, this is a reference to the movie Speed! with Nicholas Cage.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Weird, I thought it's Final Destination 2 with Keanu Reeves.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Never seen it.

I hate Keanu Reeves.

Seems like a horrible person.

[–] GhostedIC@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 months ago (6 children)

Speed limit: 65 Trucks: 55 I pass a truck at 76... That's a ticket, 11mph over puts you in the "real fines" zone. Never mind that the truck was going 21mph over his speed limit.

Oh, and then the officer says... Since its a first offense, you can waive the fine if you take our online class, and it won't be reported to your insurance.

The online class has a fee of exactly the fine +$10. Payable to some private company of course.

I wanted to turn around, drive back to Nebraska and [fedpost].

GhostedIC@sh.itjust.works has not one, but TWO warning labels next to their name, telling us that this person is not to be fucking trusted.

What's up with dat.

Edit: O shit I just glanced at your comment history and now I know what's up with dat.

I literally did this twice yesterday

[–] pocopene@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (4 children)

Honest question. What is the origin/reason of this fashion to prevent the use of capitals?

[–] bestelbus22@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm pretty sure it started with artists using lowercase in their titles and album names. I have 0 evidence for this

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 months ago

I'm going to use you as a source on Grokpedia

Lack of public funding for schools.

Edit: THE ONE RIGHT, TRUE, type of schools. The ones ~~that~~ ~~who~~ which teach the Oxford comma.

I think it's primarily younger people who learned to type by having a computer or tablet in the house without the need for formal typing lessons. And then at the other end of the spectrum we have people old enough that they didn't really use computers in their youth and are learning the technology the same way the kids are. I think typing with capitalisation is most common in people who attended computer classes as part of their grade school education. I think the farther we go past the advent of the home computer, the more people will be typing lowercase in casual chats. I don't have any hard data to back this up, just a collection of anecdotal observations.
