Your pic needs to have a spoiler and nsfw warning. I just flashed the guy behind me on the bus with this image and I'm pretty sure he just moaned.

[–] musubibreakfast@lemmy.world 16 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I'm in this bus as well and happened to see the image, the guy next to me saw it as well. Everyone in the bus saw the image, even the bus driver caught a glimpse.

We're all masturbating in the back of the bus. This is the happiest I've ever been in my life. The driver just took his hands off the wheel and dropped his pants. Oh my god!

The bus just jumped a guard rail, we're going down the side of a cliff. I'd fear for my life if I wasn't having such a good time, man what a beautiful image. I'm gonna go jerk off some more.

Reminds me of that one copypasta

[–] a_person@piefed.social 7 points 3 months ago

I was on the train and when I saw this I had to start furiously masturbating.

Please put an NSFW tag on this. I was on the train and when I saw this I had to start furiously masturbating. Everyone else gave me strange looks and were saying things like “what the fuck” and “call the police”. I dropped my phone and everyone around me saw this image. Now there is a whole train of men masturbating together at this one image. This is all your fault, you could have prevented this if you had just tagged this post NSFW

No, it's the case for my Lenovo legion go. Small but useful feature!

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 months ago

Damn, super useful.

Main concern I would have would be thermals while charging. I've always avoided charging my deck in the default case because I didn't want it to heat up too much.

[–] rowdy@piefed.social 19 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I can understand the concern. But a SD at full load would run significantly hotter, even with fan exhaust, than a powered-off SD charging in an enclosed case. It’s a non-issue.

[–] JohnEdwa@sopuli.xyz 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's all about the battery temperature.
Even if you are running the deck with the APU cooking at 80C and fans blasting at full tilt, the battery stays relatively cool. But stuff it in an insulated box and start charging it at 45 watts, and the battery will quickly start heating from the inside over the recommended 30-45C maximum.

[–] rowdy@piefed.social 4 points 3 months ago

Citation needed - but I suppose you could say the same about my claim.

I’d love to test this properly with an infrared thermometer but I don’t have one. All I have is an anecdote that I’ve been charging my OLED in it’s case since release and have never had an issue - not zipped up given the wire, just the lid flipped over on top.

I guess either way the BMS would prevent any real damage from occurring, which is why I say it’s a non-issue.

I used to charge with the case mostly closed and the SD backwards. Now I have an angled rotating magnetic charger connector that fits in while the case is closed. The only time I've had a problem is when I had a bug where the fan would stay stuck on or the time when it stayed on because of a Bluetooth connection bug where it wouldn't sleep. It has never felt warm while charging and sleeping.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

I'd think, at least for the existing Steam Decks, it would involve some kind of internal modification as well since they don't do charging like this.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 3 months ago

Thermals wouldn't get too hot, but wireless charging is terribly inefficient. If using a battery pack that's say 20,000mah in size, you'll only normally get about 14,000mah worth of charge into your device going from USB C to USB C (caries with charge speed and efficiency of charge controllers involved). With wireless charging you're probably looking at 9,000mah.

Submitting a patent isn't a leak. You'll know it will be picked up by others, that's a price you pay for patenting.

[–] Landless2029@lemmy.world 14 points 3 months ago

Yep.

China lurks patent and places like kickstarter for things to make and sell.

That's besides taking the machinery for contracted work and running the machines with a second shift and cheaper parts...

I hate it.

[–] Goretantath@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago

Unless the case will work with their next iteration, I'm fine with a multipurpose battery bank and backpack.

[–] LemmyBruceLeeMarvin@lemmy.ml 12 points 3 months ago

Gabe stop by wallet can only take so much abuse

[–] AceBonobo@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I love valve and steam but how the hell are you getting a patent for "case that charges device inside of it"?

[–] IMALlama@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's probably a design patent, which is more style focused and helps prevent knockoffs.

[–] Brahvim@lemmy.kde.social 5 points 3 months ago

I could see lower-quality hardware that could hurt a Deck being prevented, but... A patent on third party-friendly hardware... from a company that is happy with people modding their games to death and resurrection?

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 6 points 3 months ago

Not having a cable in the patent is interesting..

Wonder if they would ever consider adding Qi2

[–] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 months ago

So THAT'S what the indent in the case is for!

I already have a 200g 4 megapixel display in my pocket, with a battery that makes it go through the day. Stop building 1 (one) megapixel 750g dumbbells that can't stay on and then add heft.
