"Worst" as defined by you. (It's a blanket question so how you answer is as interesting to me as the content of the answer.)

I thought Firefly was bad, but for me personally Final Space takes the cake. They really screwed the guy over.

You?

The Venture Bros. Adult Swim cancels their best show for what? More Rick and Morty. That's just sad.

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

Altered Carbon. Season one was top-notch, season two brought all the nails to shut that coffin.

[–] MummifiedClient5000@feddit.dk 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Carnivàle had so much potential :-(

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

There's an outline floating around online of what they had planned for the next 3 seasons

The OA. That was the cancellation that really turned me off Netflix and streaming more broadly, and changed my viewing habits.

[–] psyc@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (3 children)

The Expanse. The last books are my favorite in the series. Still hoping they finish…

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think it was a naturally stopping point. Maybe they can restart it with the same cast in… 20 years?

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago

That is really my hope. The story picks up many years later so once the actors look 5 years older and have some grey hairs then I want them to film the next set of books.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Probably my answer, but it's a shame Alex (the actor) was an ass and had to get canned. Not that he was my favorite character, but it felt a bit off without him.

[–] Dalacos@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Ditto. I still haven't read the books, but as I understand it, the biggest "hook" for me in the show is in those last three yet to be adapted.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 9 points 2 months ago

Limitless.

It really pisses me off because one of the cited reasons was the fan response, and the fan response was that "it's too unrealistic."

Oh you think?! The show about a magic pill that makes you super smart isn't realistic? Fuck off! Let us have some fantasy, FFS.

[–] jaaake@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Pushing Daisies... but it might be coming back? 16 years after being cancelled?

[–] SolarMonkey@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Really?

That show was great. I just rewatched it a couple months ago :)

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

King of the Hill was cancelled to make room for The Cleveland Show. That should pretty much say everything.

[–] Vinny_93@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

King of the Hill was rebooted a few months ago. Horrible though that the voice actor for John Redcorn was murdered outside his house for being gay

[–] Montagge@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 months ago

Mythbusters. I know it had been on for a long time, but it was my go to the entire time. I was ready for it to go, and I haven't found a show that I liked as much as it.

Metalocalypse is up there too!

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

In recent memory, I’d say Raised By Wolves. It was flawed but interesting. It also had an interesting companion comic book. Would love to see some streamer pick the series back up, or maybe some nice graphic novels based on the story.

Similarly, Lodge 42 and Moonhaven.

[–] MyDaemonIsABadger@feddit.uk 2 points 2 months ago

Absolutely, RBW was fascinating and different and stunning. We were absolutely gutted when it was cancelled.

[–] archibaldreiss@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I still can't believe there were only two seasons, this show was outstanding

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

The Peripheral. Cancelled due to the writer strikes. Excellent sci-fi show. Would have loved an extra season.

[–] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

The show "Warrior" from 2019. HBO fumbled big on that one and unfortunately Netflix isn't going to make a fourth season.

Terra Nova... Would have loved to have more dinosaurs

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

To bad they thought people were more intersted in family drama then friggin dinosaurs.

After a recent rewatch, I would have to put forward Better Off Ted as top of my list of worst cancellations. Truly underrated when it ran, the writing was witty and sharp, aligning with the humour of Scrubs and Community.

Speaking of, re-watching Community slowly peter-out over the seasons (despite my excitement for the movie!), does preclude me from putting it at the top of the list.

Lastly, for my wasted potential award, I would say Westworld was cancelled just as it sat on the edge of redemption. Season one was a masterpiece, while season two felt like a big retread. Seasons 3&4 were controversial due to the drastic shift in setting to the real (future) world, however the ending of S4 leading back into the Wild West setting was so promising!

Lastly, for my wasted potential award, I would say Westworld was cancelled just as it sat on the edge of redemption.

I have words on that,

/agree is the short answer. Long answer is too long for this moment. Just, slash agree. It was a planned five seasons and we ended on a low point four season in because we dirty fuckin' humans deserve to end on a low point. But. ...

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I was onboard with season 3 and was ok with 4 until they did Maeve so damn dirty. After that I said "fuck this show".

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

freaks and geeks. never got a chance and had an all star cast

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Same with its spiritual predecessor, “My So Called Life”.

[–] BryceBassitt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

Reaper, absolutely loved that show and they had the audacity to end on a cliffhanger. Same for My Name is Earl

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Plenty in reality, but for this thread I will say "Into the Badlands". It was a fun and gorgeous show with good action scenes.

[–] Dalacos@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

That was a weirdly fun one. Didn't really like the kid but loved the protagonist and, er, I think her name is Emily Beecham. They had a few interesting antagonists in there, IIRC. Probably rewatch that one one day.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Carnivale.

It was one of the best shows ever made, and they cancelled it on one of the biggest cliffhangers in television history.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

There's a treatment floating around online of what the writers had planned for the next 3 seasons

[–] 1hitsong@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Welcome To Flatch. The show was uniquely weird in a way I enjoyed.

I know I am probably in a small majority, but Hailey's On It!

I watched it every day with my daughter. I genuinely believe/d that it had scooby-doo level cult following potential. Cancelled AND deleted from disney.

Only one I can think of right now was Constantine. I actually loved that show.

[–] Vinny_93@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I really liked Whiakey Cavalier. Also Next was pretty sad, got cancelled because covid

they cancelled castle like a month after i started watching it

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

At least theres a bunch of episodes. Its a shame Stana and Nathan had issues as it really hurts the last couple of seasons.

[–] hasnt_seen_goonies@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

American vandal. Both seasons were excellent and very different. I enjoyed the next thing the creators made (players), but I really wish it was high school true crime.
