My partner's mom started a big fight and moved out unexpectedly, so surprisingly well

My Christmas gift is an extra 500 sq ft of usable space

Home gym here I come!

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

taking the Christmas tree down did wonders for my sanity

I successfully avoided my family, ended up at a friends family Christmas and still had my normal Christmas panic attack. I dislike this holiday lol

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

I had to work and got sick lmao.

[–] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

Not bad. No drama, ate a lot of food, got a couple good gifts, hung out with my sister's dog.

Took the pups to visit my folks in the suburbs. After that, went to a big Korean market back in the city and got shit to make pho + some various snacks. It was a good day.

It was good, my kid got to meet her whole extended family for the first time, everyone doted on her.

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago

Not a good one, my dad just didn't come over and my grandma was a little bit sick so she also didn't come too. The good part is that I ate a ton of lasagna and started a lot of games, mom's lasagna is god tier.

Also, it's summer here and I'm basically melting everyday, we only got one fan right now and our state is running out of water. The recently privatized water company is doing a shit job as expected and lots of people on my city have no water and sometimes no electricity too.

Threw something together at the last minute with friends with no local family. Pros: friends, food, magic mushrooms. Cons: catching cold.

I get vaxed to high hell for the holidays getting sick feels inevitable without it

for some reason im scared of the new year

However I personally consider this the halfway point between winter and spring, so im natually excited for spring to arrive

But to answer the question (sorry that didn’t answer it) Christmas was awesome, no major drama, I could actually relax

For me personally, not terrible I guess. I didn't have to go to Christmas eve service because I had to stay home and cook, which was nice. For the family as a whole, possibly the worst anyone can remember.

(CW: Death)

spoilerMy brother-in-law's dad, who seemed perfectly healthy less than a year ago, on Christmas day was at the point where the only discussion was about palliative care, but later in the evening went into renal failure and passed in the middle of the night.

My other sister's side brought the flu with them. Almost everyone is in some stage of sick, I'm on my second day of taking tamiflu and am in bed with a fever. With both of those things going on, the larger family Christmas was canceled day-of.

On a much smaller side of the bad things, my sister's washing machine broke on Christmas Eve, so we're doing laundry for 13 sick people with one residential washer-dryer set.

So bad bad vibes all around.

New bad news (CW: Death/Self Harm)

spoilerJust heard an extended family member who was suicidal was shot and killed by cops last night. https://archive.is/gCpf8

Got really sick and had to go in for surgery, not the worst holiday season ever though.

[–] MaxOS@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

Really stressful. Glad it's over lol.

[–] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

spent it drinking and being mentally ill. Lost a close friend of mine, or at least the shoe dropped that it did. It was not a good time

[–] Nopeace@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

Pretty normal Christmas with my parents. I learned my absolute piece of shit sister is moving back into the area and has been "reconciling" with my parents. I am not happy.

[–] Carcharodonna@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

Hung out with my dog and did really nothing else related to Christmas. Not good, not bad, but it was a little lonely. Basically like any other day.
