Liberal democracy truly is a popularity contest. They are hungry to win power but don't know what to do with it after winning it. Like no planning at all. It's like watching a 24×7 debate club.

That would be funny, but Japan has rarely voted in a ruling party other than the Liberal Democrats in modern times, so I don't imagine she would lose her position unless her party didn't put her in some safe seat (which UK parties do and I assume Japan would do as well, because no party would want to get a majority but have their leader lose their seat). And don't forget Truss didn't need an general election to get appointed or replaced as PM.
