Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

You would think someone would have thought to encase two shells in like a cage in headphones so you can listen to the ocean while you sleep. It's like a sound machine, but no battery required.

This is genuinely one of the most left-field shower thoughts I’ve come across. So often I can relate to these posts - I read it and think… “yeah, I see that”. This one truly has me going “huh… wtf”.

Well done bud, this is terrific.

Just tape some cups to your head? Same effect.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 30 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But what if its us two girls and we only have one cup?

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 37 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Still works but the sound quality is shit.

Wow your username is surprisingly relevant.

Well you can already buy shells. She sells seashells by the seashore.

Thank you for an actual thought and not some dumbass rhetorical question.

I'm fairly certain dumbass rhetorical questions can qualify as shower thoughts.

Whether it's worth posting is a different question.

I feel like they might be a bit uncomfy laying down, tho you do only need one more shell if you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night...

It's brilliant and probably doable diy at no cost, but only if you sleep on your back and don't toss and turn. Which, maybe you won't, because sublime sleep. Or you could wait for the $500 Sharper Image version from an airplane seatback magazine

Yeah but how will I clean myself after I use the restroom.

Someone doesn't know how to use the ~~3~~ 2 seashells

Curious how many people have done something like that before sound machines and fans. Granted, there's plenty of natural outdoor noise in many places, so probably unnecessary.

With all due respect, you would think people would not be able to sleep with seashells attached to their heads.
Plus does those sea sounds last for that long, I really do not know.

As a thinker outside the box, but better at effects of my thoughts on users- Awesome, thinking outside the box, keep it up, but do a better job on your ideas effects on the users. With that said better for people’s hearing, then those ear buds.

Plus does those sea sounds last for that long, I really do not know.

If you live near the ocean, the seashell ocean sound will last forever. If you're a little farther away then you need to take them back to the ocean to recharge every couple months.

WOW, that is extremely interesting! It is not distance of time, but distance from the ocean, WOW!

Do you know why that is true?

What do you mean by, Whoosh?

[–] call_me_xale@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's the sound of a joke going over your head.
