Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I was with you until "until." Abolish ICE.

Though that may be the most incremental progress Bernie expects to be possible.

[–] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 3 weeks ago

I’m going to live a fantasy land where the gop do oust those two, and then sanders says, note still no funding, abolish ice!

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 49 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No. At all. Not another penny. At all. Ever.

And ban every field agent from ever working for the government or local law enforcement in the future. No renaming and keeping most of the staff. No shuttling them off to be brown shirts elsewhere. They're all tainted.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 3 weeks ago

No news punditry, lobbiests, or think tanks, either.

[–] who@feddit.org 35 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Unfortunate headline. It seems to imply that Sanders would fund ICE if Noem and Miller were gone, but as we can see by reading the article, that alone would not be enough.

I'm glad Sanders is no pushover.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 34 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Chuck Schumer, on the other hand, says "Let's start with tacitly supporting ICE and move right as we negotiate."

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It doesn't matter what any of them say. What matters is what they've been doing, as a unit, and will do, as a unit.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I’m glad they are including Miller in this. He needs to be run out of the country.

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that people like him are historically supposed to go to Argentina.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that people like him are historically supposed to go to ~~Argentina~~ Club Graybar, not Club Fed.

[–] RunJun@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I’d like his final resting place to be in the US. I’ll debate the timeframe.

PeeWee Himmler is behind most of this administrations worst policies, including the family separation abomination in the first term.

He is about the most repellant human on the planet, and the Dems should make him a primary focus of the Midterm campaign for EVERY candidate. Talk about him a lot, the way MAGAs have always looped in Pelosi or AOC or Omar into their propaganda.

Tie PeeWee Himmler directly to Trump, and demonize him to Hell, where he belongs. Make the little pussy cry.

[–] dwemthy@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Remember when Congress took all the funding away from NPR that was already budgeted to them? Why is no one talking about rescinding funding for ICE?

[–] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

In my head world where I am super cool because I am immune to cancer and can still smoke unfiltered Pall Malls and the ladies love me The Bern won in 16 and we have flying cars now.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 weeks ago

Claw back the funding and throw the whole department in the incinerator

[–] NauticalNoodle@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 weeks ago

That's a joke right? Their current budget is magnitudes larger than any budget they've ever had before.

[–] gustofwind@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Don’t they already have plenty of extra money?

Taxes are automatic for most citizens

[–] Auntievenim@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

You can just change your w2 its literally not hard I did it last year

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

Not another penny afterwords either right?

[–] Novis@lemdro.id 3 points 3 weeks ago

Sigh no Bernie... No more money for ICE AT ALL EVER AGAIN. Slash the DHS budget, they're not doing their fucking jobs right at all and don't deserve anymore leeqay. This is how you know Bernie is also not good enough to meet the moment.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Talk is cheap, Bernie. That bill already passed the house, are you gonna stop it passing in the Senate?

[–] shane@feddit.nl 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

As a US Senator, I assume that is his idea?

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Looks like we'll find out in Monday.

[–] humanamerican@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

Depends on what he means by "gone"
