“Must remain in seats for entirety of film”

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago

"No vomiting either."

I'm just guessing.

Googling the first number shows that it's a prank number designed to waste time: https://worldofprankcalls.com/beverly/

No offense but I imagine there’s a lot of posts. Once someone makes a joke and it gets shared on social media, repeats are pretty common

[–] Slab_Bulkhead@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

oh i know, but this one has more info, and i thought someone might call it for the lolz

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

It’s probably just their ex or some other person the poster doesn’t like lol

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 19 points 4 days ago (3 children)

More likely that someone is being funny.

Allegedly. But on the balance of probabilities, I'd say it's more likely to be a a joke than someone actually trying to hire actors on Craigslist to watch a movie.

[–] ObsidianZed@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I saw this shared in a local community and someone had confirmed that many of the tickets for a local showing had been purchased likely for just this.

They said it on the Internet so you know it's true.

Tragicomedy

So you don't get the 50 bucks until the movie's over. Remember to bring your phone.

Must remain in seats for remainder of film

I can bring my VR headset and noise cancelling headphones to watch a different movie tho, right?

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I don't see a stipulation against sitting there but constantly writhing in agony and screaming "oh God! Please just end it already!"

[–] flying_sheep@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 days ago

Then if they try to throw you out, you just loudly explain that you won't get paid if you don't sit the whole time.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

But why? To pretend people care? To juice box office numbers?

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yes.

It could also be a joke ad. If it is, it’s funny.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This is almost certainly the answer. Once again, Lemmy just doesn't pick up on satire.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I mean, they were paying people to go to rallies and the inaugural, is it that beyond the pale to question if this is real?

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Is there any hard evidence that actually happened?

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Here’s an instance in 2015.

Here’s an example of his paying for a fake union rally

Here’s another where workers were told they wouldn’t be paid for the day unless they attended a rally.

I will admit I may have been duped about the inaugural, and his weird military parade nobody went to. Those were Craigslist ads too.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, all of those were done through legit casting agencies or other organisations, and hired experienced actors.

I still think it's a joke, not because he's above this, but because it's not how his people have typically done this.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah, I tend to agree the more I’m thinking about it

[–] Zier@fedia.io 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I will go for $5000. plus free snacks & 1 bathroom break of 10 minutes. And I get to bring a music player with headphones.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

I replied offering to pirate it and watch on Livestream for $1000
