Wait screaming trees is actually the name of a band?

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 2 points 28 minutes ago

Hell yeah 😆 i first heard them on the Singles soundtrack https://youtu.be/rWoG7jShUck

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 28 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

I got 6 I think

Radiohead.
Alice in chains.
Smashing pumpkins.
Nine Inch Nails.
Matchbox 20.
Pearl jam.

[–] criticon@lemmy.ca 1 points 24 minutes ago

Lol I thought Pearl jam was black eyed peas and I was a little confused about the theme

[–] gh0stb4tz@lemmy.world 32 points 4 hours ago (4 children)

The other three are:

Hole (Courtney Love’s band) Screaming Trees Soundgarden

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 16 points 4 hours ago

I thought hole might have been one, and screaming trees was totally just something random I said in my head.

Can't believe I missed Soundgarden

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago

I missed Screaming Trees, never heard of them, and didn't think long enough about Pearl Jam.

[–] voxthefox@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

I think hole is actually puddle of mudd, but either works i guess

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 12 points 3 hours ago (1 children)
[–] voxthefox@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 hours ago

Yeah you're probably right, I didn't realize most of their famous work was post 2000

[–] gh0stb4tz@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (4 children)

Huh… I’ve never heard of that band before. Did they have a famous song with heavy rotation on MTV back in the day? If not, I must have missed them.

[–] Rebels_Droppin@lemmy.world 1 points 51 minutes ago

If you ever played rockband 1 their song "Celebrity Skin" was featured. That's how I know of them

[–] Hellinabucket@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah but they were early 2000s not 90s.

[–] Alabaster_Mango@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

They formed in 1992 and released their first album in 1997. Granted, not a lot of airplay on that, and they didn't really get much notice until their second album in 2001. I could totally see them being included if someone was just googling "90s bands" though.

[–] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 hours ago

They had a couple: "Blurry" and "She Hates Me" come to mind

[–] voxthefox@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

She hates me was the big one I remember, but apparently that was in 2001 so they're right its probably hole

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Blurry I think charted better

[–] Klear@quokk.au 2 points 4 hours ago

Also Skibidi toilet.

[–] AltheaHunter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 4 hours ago

Got all 9 I think…

Tap for spoilerscreaming trees

[–] Staden_@pawb.social 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (3 children)

I could only recognize 5 so far

  • alice in chains
  • smashing pumpkins
  • sound garden
  • radio head
  • puddle of mudd
I was born in the 2000's but I grew up listening to 90's music

edit:HOW COULD I NOT RECOGNIZE PEARL JAM?!

[–] calliope@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 hour ago

It’s Hole, not Puddle of Mudd. But if you were born in the 2000s that would explain why!

Hole was a more famous 90s band, Puddle of Mudd didn’t have success until the album Come Clean, released in 2001.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 4 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

I can get 7, no idea who wailing trees or nails in plank are.

[–] cile.sb@piefed.social 6 points 3 hours ago

nails in plank: Nine Inch Nails :D

[–] dyathinkhesaurus@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago

No, Aha! is a different band.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I had 5, but one different...

spoilerI missed Sound garden, you missed nine inch nails and matchbox 20.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 1 points 2 hours ago

Oh, I thought the pearl jam was a jar full of jawbreakers at first. Pearl jam makes more sense with the bread.

[–] DahGangalang@infosec.pub 4 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

So I've got 6:

  • Nine inch nails
  • Alice in Chains
  • Matchbox 20
  • Radiohead
  • Smashing Pumpkins
  • Sound Garden

Unclear what the hole, the screaming trees, and the (jelly?) sandwich are, but I bet those are the other 3 I'm missing.

Maybe in the meantime you got the answers from the other comments, but appart from Pearl Jam, the other two you pretty much guessed them accidentally : Hole and Screaming Trees.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Americans call jelly jam, and i assume those are pearls.

[–] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 9 points 3 hours ago

Jam is made with smashed fruit. Jelly is made with strained juice, giving it a translucent appearance. Source: American

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.social 1 points 3 hours ago

My favorite 90's band, screwboard 🥰
