Our (justified) hatred for the gringos makes us forget that we don’t hate the French Canadians enough.

I can't speak for French Canadians, but here's a comic released by the French cartoonists from the Charlie Hebdo offices:

This was published on March 2024 during Ramadan (that's what the speech bubble is about), just six months after October 7, when everyone was still pretending this wasn't genocide; these guys are admitting they know it's a genocide and having a laugh about it. As I always tell people to do, please note the goofy looking starving child; the artist had to draw that in there line by line. Absolute ghouls.

Back when their office got shot up I was a bit mortified. Every year since then I have gained greater understanding of why.

For anyone who wants to bully the artist (which (cyberbullying) is illegal in France and is how Candace Owens is getting sued), this is the guy who literally opened the door for the people who shot Charlie.

Transphobia/Misogyny/racism/islamophobia

This is the first time since I have seen any of their "comics”. I am young enough to barely remember it or have paid attention and holy shit

I feel like Charlie Hebdo is almost cheating, they figured out the right wing crybully grift years before anyone else figured out how to do it.

Now I'll have a very good reason to dance and laugh every January 7.

For those of you not well-versed in profanity. Allow me to poorly translate:

The mom is basically saying “This year, it’s good to be at Quebec beaches, children”. The pamphlet she’s reading translates to ‘sunny destinations’.

On the terminal it says “cuba - cancelled, puerto vallatra - cancelled, Mexico - at your own risk, gaza - soon.”

While sure, this seems “harmless” at first, it just sounds whiny that all the injustices done for them and they act like the victim because it made the treats less accessible.

I thought this was inoffensive until I saw "bientôt".

JDM is looking for troubles.

[–] Riffraffintheroom@hexbear.net 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don’t see why that would be a cheerful “soon” given the darkness of the rest of the comic

as in the Gaza plan

I don't speak baguette, what is this comic saying?

Infants, This year we'll go to the beach of Québec.

[–] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago

Couldn't they just go to NS?

Typical Journal de Montréal L.

I really hate the "There's a war in Mexico? I guess I can't travel there anymore, teehee!" I've been hearing around. Like is this seriously the first thing that comes to mind?

I’m going to be charitable and presume the joke is “The world’s gone mad that it makes going on vacation to icy Quebec beaches seem like a good idea by comparison.”
