Voters give Trump higher marks on border security, but they disapprove of his handling of several key issues, according to a national NBC News poll.

Majorities of registered voters disapprove of how Donald Trump has handled the issues that defined the first months of a tumultuous midterm election year, as Democrats maintain an advantage in the battle for control of Congress, according to a new national NBC News poll.

Voters give Trump poor marks for his handling of immigration after his administration surged federal agents into the heart of American cities and immigration officers in Minnesota killed two U.S. citizens in January. They are down on his tariffs after the Supreme Court struck down his main tariff program in February and Trump later reimposed some of those levies.

And they don’t like his actions on Iran, with the U.S. now at war with the nation after Trump ordered strikes starting last weekend — strikes a majority say should not have happened.

We have a MASSIVE propaganda and critical thinking crisis here in the states.

It is jaw dropping how otherwise normal people can have such disgusting views.

And this is why the problems in America will not be easily solved. There won't be a solution in the (if they happen) midterms. There won't be a solution in the (if it happens) next election.

The problem of 40+% of the population supporting Trump remains. And it will remain, whether it's the causes of it or the reality of it. And it will not simply fade away.

This large of a population supporting these policies is a crisis of catastrophic proportions.

So if you line up 20 random Americans, just 9 will say Trump is doing a great job.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fucking pathetic ain't it?

[–] Bluegrass_Addict@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

or it's just lies / extremely confusing terminology being used

[–] Lydon_Feen@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

i think you meant to say that if you line up 20 random americans, 9 of them should be commited to a psych ward.

a modern one or a 1940s one?

[–] Lydon_Feen@lemmy.world 1 points 9 minutes ago

The sadist in me wants to say 1940's.

Because those 9 probably watch Faux News (Fox News) and the likes... which is just propaganda for this regimes agenda. Now, unfortunately the other news media has been compromised and are starting to bend the knee as well. We'll start seeing an incline in the pedophiles approval especially if a "terrorist attack perpetrated by Iran were to happen on US soil" which the sane bunch of us will know would be absolute bullshit and fabricated by the regime.

Hey let's not go lining up random Americans. If you're insistent on lining Americans up, stick to those nine people you mentioned.

[–] Oisteink@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That's not how they do it themselves though.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Or as the cons like to say: "a mandate".

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Just? That's way to many!

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

"trump barely is behind in the polls for a cornucopia of huge issues that he's about as bad as can possibly be on"

I wish it made sense.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Honestly, what was the issue with the border before? I keep seeing Republicans and plenty of reactionary centrists say that Donvict "closed the border because Joe had an open border policy".

What are they even talking about?

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 day ago

They're full of shit. They're calling asylum seekers illegals because Trump told MAGA that means they were let out of an insane asylum in another country and Biden brought them here to vote. It's a ridiculous premise and he just makes up the numbers as he goes.

[–] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 4 points 22 hours ago

It's a useful tool in that the vast majority of Americans don't have any personal insight into what's going on so if a right-wing rag tells them the borders are wide open and terrorist rapist serial killers are pouring in, many are inclined to buy that.

What we're seeing now is MAGA trying to reconcile that invisible threat with actual problems like the cost of food, gas, housing, healthcare, etc.

This is the exact reason there won’t be a blue wave in November—even if there is a fair election.

Get out while you still can.
