Iran should consider that their GDP would be a lot higher if they paid 70k for the same drone.

Iran should open source the design and put it on a git somewhere

it's been extremely funny watching them rack up wins with the drone equivalent of a walking target. i'm pretty sure shahed drones are slow enough to stop with like a machine gun. IRGC continuing to just win.

I am an ignorant American but I also find language interesting. Where I'm from we call it a lawn mower and I've never considered the fact that would be because Americans are stupid and think we must have lawns.

Is it called a land mower elsewhere?

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

no, well where i live its called "grass-cutter", but that "land mower" is a typo catgirl-sorry

I've seen of air defense in Ukraine talking about how in the radar it goes as high and as fast as a truck

Could be alluding to the fact that these drones fly quite low for aircraft, reducing their radar detection range.

I mean that's how they're shooting them down in the UAE. Helicopters with their guns are tracking and then shooting down drones. So you're right.

Damn... if everyone on hexbear pitched in a couple bucks, we could get one of our own.

[–] anonochronomus@hexbear.net 28 points 3 days ago

You need two so you can use one to prove that you're serious.

[–] facow@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 37 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I knew that the drones were much cheaper than what was reported...

But I didn't want to say anything without solid evidence lest it sound like copium.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 13 points 3 days ago

I knew too, but didn't want to say anything to not ruin their plan

[–] lil_tank@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

$7000 for a 20 years old car? In the most car- brained nation on earth? The US truly has nothing for it (for reference, french's Craigslist has €2000 cars on it)

[–] Sickday@kbin.earth 19 points 3 days ago

price parity with the casual American's lifted truck

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

That's obviously bullshit, everyone knows even hammers cost more than that!
