the reason they didn't give any advance notice is that these bozos would have all got lit the fuck up and some flag officer would have lost even more helicopters, making the US 0-20 this season.

leadership wanted to boost morale for the "special" forces clowns, so they scheduled a gimmie exercise against ghosts while everybody was asleep and then ran away before anyone could get their shirt on and rub the crap out of their eyes.

They are getting used to seeing the population as "the enemy".

Here's to hoping gen z wins again like it did in the simulations on a civil war.

What simulations

Is it just some kind of intimidation tactic?

[–] Chulk@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Was thinking the same thing, but it seems weird to do it in this manner. I'd think they'd want more people to witness it if it were an intimidation tactic. Given that the drill was so late at night, I am wondering if they're practicing for an operation in Cuba to kidnap Castro.

to kidnap Castro

Did you mean Miguel Diaz-Canel or do you think that they think that kidnapping Raul Castro would be a good intimidation tactic?

[–] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Raul lately has been the target of bullshit indictments for actions 50 years ago

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I hadn't heard about that. I remember he was said to be responsible for mass executions during and immediately after the revolution, but I'm not familiar with what the indictments would be if not that.

Thanks. It seems like a really frivolous "indictment," but I guess that's to be expected.

What building were they simulating an attack on?

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Apparently they were doing exercises at the abandoned St. Luke's hospital. Which is a bit on the nose for the babykiller brigade

I don't see how that's useful and couldn't just be a training building constructed in their own land.

Makes me think this is more about a display of power and intimidation domestically at a time when views of the military as invincible are weakening due to Iran clearly winning.

Always interesting to see the languages used. I know there’s a lot of Armenians in the US West Coast but seeing an official American (local) government announcement in Armenian is interesting

Armenian population

Share of Total State Population: Official American Community Survey data indicates Los Angeles County hosts 188,511 Armenian residents, constituting 75.6% of California's total Armenian population of 249,406, creating a demographic concentration where more than half of the state's Armenian community resides within a single county—a geographic clustering pattern rarely documented in American demographic research
