Death of Custer, scene by Pawnee Bill's Wild West Show performers c. 1905 of Sitting Bull's stabbing Custer, with dead Native Americans lying on ground

On June 25, 1876, at the Battle of the Greasy Grass (Battle of Little Big Horn) Lakota, Arikara, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho defended Sioux and Cheyenne families living in south central Montana in a battle with the Seventh Regiment of the United States Cavalry.

As explained in An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States for Young People by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, adapted by Debbie Reese and Jean Mendoza:

In June 1876, a large encampment of nontreaty Sioux and Cheyenne families was gathered along the Little Bighorn River. Later that month, Custer and the Seventh Cavalry prepared to attack the encampment, but warriors led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull successfully intercepted them. Most textbooks call this the Battle of the Little Bighorn, but Lakota and Cheyenne people, especially those whose ancestors defended the encampment villages, know it as the Battle of the Greasy Grass.

Sioux chief Sitting Bull and Lakota leader Crazy Horse directed their warriors against Lieutenant George Armstrong Custer’s regiment of over 225 cavalry men near the Little Bighorn River. Custer and his men died in the battle, and the united tribes claimed victory over the U.S. military that week.

But the victory against the United States was short-lived. Crazy Horse died in 1877 in U.S. military custody, as that government worked steadily to disarm the nations of the western plains and force their people onto reservations. Sitting Bull lived another 14 years and was murdered at the Standing Rock Indian Reservation by an Indian Agent. He was targeted for his political power and his participation in the anti-imperialist spiritual movement, Ghost Dance.

Marble markers for the Seventh Cavalry were erected in 1890, but it was not until Memorial Day of 1999 that red granite markers were added to the historic site to honor the memory of the Lakota, Sioux, Arikara, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho who died the week of the Battle of Greasy Grass.

Anyone who refers to people outside their professional mileau as "Civilians" or worse yet "Muggles" should be burned at the stake.

Boomer father talking over me about a problem I'm currently trying to solve and he knows literally nothing about. Will not shut the fuck up, ever. If he helped, especially via payment, then it'd be tolerable. But some fucknut who's like "yeah, you wanna' spend more money and time travel to make it not happen in the first place" really fucking helpful, mouthbreather. Can't help but insert himself into other people's problems to flatter himself.

I found crazy audio quality for 40€!!!!

The Chinese brand Samson makes the SR950 studio monitor-type headphones and I've found them on Ali for about 40€. They feature (according to the datasheet) a quite flat spectrum response.

Using PeqDB (free online tool) to equalize them to my taste using a sample song I love and know well, I got them sounding pretty much exactly how I want them to sound (had to boost the bass and the highs). Then using PEACE on Windows I could equalize the whole computer sounds with the exported data from PeqDB and now I have fucking gorgeous sound quality IMO for just 40€!

The Golgi Apparatus is the worst named part of the cell. That should be the name of a pulp sci fi book from the 50s, not a body part.

That should be the name of a pulp sci fi book

80's spy thriller more likely.

Mamdani hasn't gooned a week in his life.

If he does, it's during a trip away from his wife, while thinking only of her.

Among all the internet existing, we forget about Tumblr. How are they doing anyway?

[–] guolai@hexbear.net 4 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

I still use Tumblr. Short story from my own experience is that it very much sucks but with a very lib-slanted paint-job. Staff makes no effort to hide that it regularly targets POC and trans bloggers. There are alot of prominent Zionist bloggers still on there, and the few leftists you might find on there unfortunately engages in a lot of ugly clique bullying which can range from understandable (sometime a take is geniunely bad) to overblown and needlessly cruel in response.

Oh and yeah, alot of smug and condescending libs in between all of this.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

I have foind the perfect bass tone. The trick is to down tune until the tuner stops working, chorus pedal, distortion pedal. Soinds like buildings falling over. You will have to find notes yourself, they are there but so is the sound of the apocalypse if you play anything but the high end of the high strings. Did a sick collab with my pal that I will post as soon as he sends it in a way I can download. He can talk your ear ofd about a synth but cant use soundgasm. There is a full super soft sounding bit in their where during our improvement we decided to do borderline folk via synth bass and a lot of pedals. Still sounded good. Tune way too low, its cool

the storage medium proven to hold retrievable data longer than any other is a clay tablet.

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 2 points 6 hours ago

The oldest known document, and it’s a complaint tho

[–] Feed_el_Castro@hexbear.net 3 points 9 hours ago

Clay tablets are super meh as long storage. They used unfired clay primarily because it could be erased and rewritten, most surviving clay tablets happened to get fired in accidental fires. We have significantly older carved stones and even paintings in cave walls.

Smh, I Love Boosters explains dialectics with thesis-antithesis. Boots Riley is a confirmed Fichtean.

Good film tho
