the pics of this "event" has been hilarious. i saw one earlier that was an open shot of what seemed to be a midway row of vendor tents and i could see like 5 people, the closest one being an ancient maga douche cruising on a jazzy across the grass.

i have seen dead mall parking lots in a thunderstorm with more active crowds.

How is it that 77 million people voted for this guy but none of them can be bothered to show up at his funfair?

The poor fascist fucks can't afford to go to DC and the rich fascist fucks have better things to do

[–] CPMSP@midwest.social 18 points 1 week ago

This is the correct answer.

FYI, it's ~1100 miles (~1800 km) from where I am to DC. A flight would be around 300 per person round trip, or if we could afford to take a week off it would be two days of driving to spend a day there and two days back. We're in the middle of the country, a third are closer and two thirds are further away.

Even if we wanted to go to this shitshow, it would cost us about $3k in lodging and travel alone. Fuck all the way off with that.

This is performative bullshit and an utter misappropriation of taxpayer dollars - par for the course, I guess.

They are busy watching ai slop

It's hot and humid as fuck in DC right now and they won't let you take anything into the event with you. On top of the travel limitations most of his base have, it would be a literal hell on earth hanging out there

Are they seriously so dysfunctional that they couldn't even bus their people in? I guess I shouldn't be surprised that chartering a couple dozen busses is far beyond the capabilities of these same chucklefucks who have been fighting a war on algae in the reflecting pool and losing. And/or maybe they're too busy panicking about how shitfucked this country is, if they're capable of even understanding such things shrug-outta-hecks

I used to joke that DOGE fired all the competent people who gave the US government at least some semblance of functionality, but it seems to be actually true.

Charlie Kirk has bussed a lot of people in for past events, but he’s in critical condition right now.

if his death actually has anything to do with the poor turnout at recent trump events that would be even more funny than i've imagined it

Beautiful weather. Even better considering it's 50%+ humidity

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

Lol, ive drawn a bigger crowd

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

This is sadder and has smaller crowds than my local Show (I think it's our version of a state fair?) we hold around here once a year, I thought Americans were big on extravagance, especially guys like Trump, it's so mid. Kind of interesting that Trump probably could've pulled back a lot more popular support by emphasising that this thing is about "America" and not "Trump" and having even begrudging liberals show up to "celebrate America", but instead it's a ghost town populated by the select few who still worship at the altar of Trump.

My home town recently had its community days fair. It's actually sad that a small town in Ohio managed to have a more lively turnout than Washington with literal millions of federal dollars backing it.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That kinda rocks and isnt sad at all. People came out to a fun and okay thing and not the bad and shitty thing

[–] RoabeArt@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

Guess I phrased it wrong. 😆 I meant it's sad that the Washington fair looks like a ghost town compared to a local town fair.

I have seen more people on the DC mall when there wasn't any kind of scheduled event, just regular tourism.
