I think the joke is that at least in the west there is a very high amount of people in the tech industry who are trans.

Draft tends to apply to men only, so they probably can't conscript them, even if they want to.
Here in Germany, men can get drafted, even during peace time, while women can only be required to work in healthcare during a war.
Hey, you can't be sure these girls aren't also there to visit their boyfriends in the army.
In Greece they check that you have 2 balls. You can't serve if you have one only.

... So Thailand actually has significantly better trans rights than the US does.
Because currently, in the US, trans people do not legally exist.
They are recognized by DoD policy and can opt out, but they also cannot opt in.
They effectively cannot vote in half the the county.

but in this case, somehow, they cancel each other out.
To be honest, if a country is gonna implement a draft or some form of compulsory service requirement, it should be gender neutral, and apply to their citizens universally, with no bearing on gender identity. By all means keep the physical fitness standards to ensure force effectiveness, but possession of one or another particular combinations of genitalia should not play into the equation at all.
On one hand, I agree with you, on the other hand I don't want to impose a military draft on 50-ish % of the population. On the other other hand, true gender equality would be if it didn't apply to anyone regardless of gender cause fuck drafts
Having a country's population be trained in the military can have some benefits. (Yes I know this is very vague)
Not occupying all the time of half your population for two years of their lives probably has greater, less-vague benefit.

The post is incorrect to begin with. I don't know the source of the photo, but in Thailand, the service is based on a lottery for men. You may easily never roll it. There are many thai students (girls too) that do military training during their high school years on some days and don't have to serve later. Also, this transitioning strategy will work in most countries in the world as most of them don't allow transwomen.

It took me 15 seconds to read that explanation and I understand it fully without ever even going there. Terrible answer to the posted question.
I think the assumption is that there is an unspoken "unless it was explained to them"
otherwise that would be the case for like pretty much all answers
Mandatory military service is a slavery.
Only if there are ways out for the elite. Otherwise it's essentially a defense co-op. If you believe your country is using the military in ethically wrong ways, that's the actual problem, not the draft.

Those drafted can also pay to not go to the military. My girlfriend's brother who is now living abroad paid i think ~200€ to not have to go there
