I Prevail's cover of Taylor swift's Blank Space

Not that I dislike her music but just not my style of choice.

HEEEYYYAAAYYAYAY.

I just need it to be the He-Man variant. With the cook-break

Anything by Bob Dylan done by literally anyone else.

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nobody sings a Bob Dylan song worse than Bob Dylan.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He did pretty well on "stuck in the middle"

[–] RecursiveParadox@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That was Steeler's Wheel, who's singer/guitarist was Gerry Rafferty of "Baker Street" (and others) fame.

I used to think it was Dylan too!

Dylan can write beautiful music. He just can’t sing for shit.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He can sing, he just has a unique voice.

Listen to Nashville Skyline and John Wesley Harding and tell me that dude can't sing.

And in the live Bootleg Series albums (thinking of Vol 4 specifically), he really hits all the notes.

I'm talking early-ish Dylan, of course (up to and including, Desire). Nowadays his voice is pretty trashed

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Excellent answer, hard to beat that. Man could write some songs but goddamn is he grating to listen to

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

Hard disagree on that one. I fucking love Dylan.

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

This is how I feel about all Stones songs too.

Postmodern Jukebox’s version of We Can’t Stop.

Their version of Take Me to Church is pretty good, too. Not the the original was bad, but Morgan James just takes it to another level. If you find a live version where it’s just her and a pianist, it’s pretty impressive. Got to see it live awhile back and had chills.

My Chemical Romance did a cover of All I Want For Christmas Is You. Which is way better then the Mariah Carey one.

[–] IWW4@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Girls Just Want to have Fun, by Cindi Lauper.

Walk Me Out in the Morning Dew by The Jeff Beck Band.

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is the original for those unaware.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Wow. I have no idea how it is that TIL and not before.

[–] Marinos@feddit.nl 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Pretty much any cover of a tears for fears song. For some reason I don't vibe with their sound, but their song writing is really good. Their songs get covered a lot and I like almost all of the covers way better than the original. Hell, even if they themselves play an acoustic version of their songs, I really enjoy it!

[–] ThisIsTheOther1@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I recently discovered Shout by Disturbed, it’s pretty good.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fuck that Nazionist piece of shit.

[–] ContactClosure@lemmus.org 2 points 23 hours ago

It's not just that he's a piece of shit, it's that he's a whiny bitch about being a piece of shit. "oh please don't give me a hard time for my garbage ass opinions". Fuck the drummer of System of a Down and his apologist guitarist too while we're at it.

Way to not include Sam Smith who wrote and co-sung the original

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Noah Hawley and Jeff Russo did a cover of Don’t Come Around Here No More by Tom Petty for the show Legion that is fantastic, I’ve never liked anything from Tom Petty.

Seether - Careless Whisper

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

Im gonna be a bit tangental. I don't like much original elvis stuff and I like the beatles but rock matured a lot after them. So often I like remakes of both better than the originals.

Leo Moracchioli's cover of Adele's Hello

I don't hate Adele's, but it's a song that I kind of allow to keep playing if it comes on. Leo's is one I actively choose to play.
