Men could look exactly like the left one if people just stopped crying about it.

I reckon we all make a conserted effort, summer will be a breeze in that

[–] SharkWeek@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes, I'd love to see more men in frocks, please.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's going to get so hot, we may end up needing to rethink some things.

You bring up a very good point.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My ratios are pretty off to look exactly like the left. Body hair, too.

[–] nonfuinoncuro@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago

psh just lacking effort bro beauty is pain

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Nothing stopping y'all from dressing like the person on the left.

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But I want to dress like the one on the right :'(

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago

Reading this with a passion flower in my hair on my way to a tiki party.

[–] Return_of_Chippy@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My frame and lack of utility in the outfit is

[–] pitiable_sandwich540@feddit.org 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah, doesnt have a single pocket.

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Throw a utility belt on top, it’ll still look great.

[–] japemasterBrad@programming.dev 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Just whack a holster on and this'll be a sport lil number for the unsuspecting masses, I say go for it OP

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 46 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (7 children)

I would dress like a kid if they made the cool kids designs in large adult sizes. They have all the best shit. The mens section is a sea of drab, lifeless bullshit. How come we don't get head-to-toe Spongebob outfits? It's not fair.

[–] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just how bad were you before you bought it?

Fair to middling, but now my friends tell me I'm fabulous.

[–] Hueristic_Autistic@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

I'm the exact opposite. Always have been. Everyone has always tried to get me to, "Find my style," bitch please! My style is nice and boring no design heather gray, solid black, forest green and gray t-shirts with a pocket, pain black relaxed fit wrangler jeans or cargo shorts that go below the knee for biking or to longer events that I don't want to feel the wind on my knees or exposed in.

Also, when you bike as a dude when you wear something like 6" to 8" inseam for shorts, you're gonna either be wearing something skin tight where your balls are up against the shorts and I've always wondered if there's a sports cup at play or feel like you're wearing boxers. Maybe that's just me. 10" inseam is the shortest I can go and yeah I know I have autism but I can't relax with anything shorter.

Then there's the whole crew vs quarter cut for men and if you wear ankle cut as a dude in the summer you have a sick obsession with enjoying blisters. Anytime really, like fuckin' shit ankle cut socks are SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quarter Cut Socks especially dickies are the fucking best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you wear crew cut socks in the summer with shorts you piss me off because I get the comfort at home but out in public, it looks so fuckin' stupid.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I dress like a background character in a cartoon. Less time thinking about my outfit means more time to do literally anything else.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

I have ADHD and it comes with decision paralysis

Which is why all my t-shirts are black and all my socks the same.

The only decision to make is shorts vs jeans. That decision gets made twice a year, in April and October pretty much

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Question: what is a less autism summer outfit for a guy?

Inb4 "You can also wear a summer dress" - no. I don't want to.

What, a shirt and khaki shorts? Or are the beautiful blond curls part of the outfit?

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 14 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Gotta comply with rule no.1 to do the outfit

Where did you get the picture of me and my wife!?

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

The shorts should be cargo shorts, and he should be wearing sandals with socks too.

I look at women and they're so well dressed in so many different and interesting styles. When i look at men they are dressed very plain usually "badly dressed" the ones the are well dressed rarely have an interesting style.

I am thinking more about clothes these days because I want a dress style that i find interesting and I struggle to find the mens equivalent what I see in womens clothing.

Ive never gone to a clothing store and seen wizard robes or anything cool. Never seen a cape, never seen a pirate shirt.

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 25 points 2 days ago (5 children)

No one stopping you from wearing a dress

Anyway

Never seen a cape

Can we normalize capes again?, like cmon! This is so cool:

I live where we have 3 seasons of summer and about 1.5 months of hoodie weather. There was a freeze and actual snow! spouse took a hoodie, other ones were dirty. I took my wool blanket, folded it in half, and used 3 safety pins to hold it in my shoulders. It looked like this

But in dark gray with sweater, jeans, and my tan work boots. I felt damn cool and people were checking me out. Live your dreams!

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 4 points 2 days ago

That damn cool!
I am also gonna save the video for future referemce thx :3

It's an interesting phenomenon, because throughout most of human history it was men who wore (if they could) flamboyant outfits, while women tended to be more demurely dressed. Sexually dimorphic species (ducks, peacocks, etc.) are often similar, with males having vibrant colours. What changed, and why? I'm sure some sociologist has thought of an answer.

Signed, plainly dressed man.

Be the change you want to see in the world!

Autism is anything expressing non-normative personality or interests.
