Just yesterday I was thinking of buying it on DVD (used). It's even available on Blu-ray.

Anyway, the YouTube uploads are low quality, here's a better one: https://archive.org/details/forklift-driver-klaus

That's awesome! I will have to get the physical copy, I didn't even know it was sold!

Any they try to say the Germans don't have a sense of humor

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did you see the advert the German lift company did after the Louvre got robbed?

They definitely do have a sense of humour

Honestly, it's the Germans I know that say they don't have a sense of humor. I've never quite agreed. It's often dark and occasionally dry, but it's totally there.

the advert the German lift company did after the Louvre got robbed? that's hilarious, here's a link for those interested, if I have to search you win!

My experience has been the same. It's like they're trying to cover some deep dark secret sense of humor. Which, like, as long as that sense of humor hasn't dismembered too much of me, we can talk.

We watched this as a part of the class when I got my fork lift driving license.

That's awesome! I find that for me, learning with humor involved makes it stick a lot more.

Thank you for posting the obligatory Klaus video.

That's exactly why we didn't have forklift cert required for small forklifts in 2 of the places I worked!

Knowing what I know of lift-trucks, the mechanics necessary to make that jump boggles the mind

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 6 points 1 day ago

It'd definitely need to be a BIG rubber band

[–] AmosBurton_ThatGuy@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I run a loader (oversized forklift basically) for work, had a truck driver ask me to lift him to the top of his semi trailer with my forks so he could undo the netting covering the load.

Abso-fucking-lutely not. Insane to even ask lol.

[–] zout@fedia.io 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If a truck driver asks this at my job, there's a big chance he's asked to leave and never come back. We'll also inform his employer.

Buddy was from down south bringing up a shipment from one of the other labs that's a part of the company I work for, never seen him before and probably never will again. Only reason he wasn't asked to leave is because that was a shipment of a clients samples that needed to be returned. Boss definitely wasn't happy he even asked that though.

Had a guy do this to me once. Straight up shot him dead, 's what we did.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 7 points 1 day ago

Looking at you, Klaus.

Years ago, I once started a new warehouse job, and on day 4, as I was moving inventory on a pallet jack, I see a guy in a forklift zipping by...wearing headphones...plugged into an ipod.

Everyone just accepted this. I didn't, and I quit at the end of my shift, and told them why. I wasn't about to get killed by someone driving a forklift who can't hear their surroundings. Maybe I overreacted, but with how common forklift accidents are, I wasn't taking the chance.

[–] nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 day ago

Aber Klaus...

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 6 points 2 days ago

We're doing forklifts again?

I worked for Home Depot and it is the only job where I just left one day and never went back. My only regret was not grabbing my apron with my forklift certification on it.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Heed the safety triangle!!!

[–] Mcdolan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I almost succeeded in forgetting about that.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

It'll never work. That punk is only carrying one forklift blade with him, and he's not even bending his knees! /s

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah because punk is when you let the government tell you what to do.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Your forklift obedience will be enforced by the laws of physics!

Also, radar, aeroplane and laser

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Dying to do you job for your boss faster is the opposite of punk rock.

What about making fountains of blood? Is that punk rock?
