A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions

Rules: (interactive)

1) Be nice and; have funDoxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them

2) All posts must end with a '?'This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?

3) No spamPlease do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.

4) NSFW is okay, within reasonJust remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com. NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].

5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions. If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.

6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !uspolitics@lemmy.world

7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.

For context I have this jacket but I want tracksuit bottoms to go with it, preferably the same colour palette (black, white and red).

I don't subscribe to any, but if you search on:

https://lemmyverse.net/communities

...you can search all Threadiverse instances for communities containing given text.

Searching for "fashion" and "clothing", some related communities:

https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=fashion

https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=clothing

Ahh yes, I was looking for something like this! Thank you, I'll check it out

That said, for a small overall community, I think the example of Reddit did the Threadiverse a disservice. Ideally, I think specialized communities should arise out of generalized ones, forking off when they start to clutter the general community or at least become self-sustaining conversations. Instead, a non-trivial percentage of subreddits was just plopped down with the welcome sign put out, but that caused users to assume that they shouldn't post a certain question in a general community, and made them not want to post it in the desert community that had been set up but had no traffic.

Fortunately, !malefashionadvice@lemmy.world seems to be doing okay, but I know I in particular wouldn't be annoyed to see questions outside my usual interests posted here.

Walk with swagger and wear anything.

For this particular item, maybe the streetwear community?

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org -1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Don't know of a community, but I can give you free advice. That thing looks terrible :D

[–] Dis32@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Fair enough, you do you. At the end of the day, I'm still gonna wear it and like it, you won't 👍🏽

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 3 points 17 hours ago

Sorry, just wanted to make a joke. Wear whatever you like man, as long as you're happy
