A thneed is a thing that everyone needs

This is capitalist propaganda, comrade

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 56 points 9 months ago

Okay, literally everyone needs to be taught how to fucking dress themselves. I don't care who you are, you most likely dress like trash. By which I mean inthink anyone that doesn't dress in some degree of alternative look by the time they hit 20 look like adult toddlers. Get a style

Every single man in my office dresses like they’re imitating what office workers look like. And it’s because that’s exactly what they’re doing. It’s maddening. You know who else picks out outfits like that? Moms shopping at OshKosh B’gosh.

Our dress code is nonexistent. Someone wore a Pikachu costume once and didn’t get written up for it. The bar is on the floor. Do some experimentation beyond wearing a purple tie.

So weird to me. I've looked like I'm in The Cure or in Disclose depending on mood but it's like.. a fashion sense.

[-] Lesrid@lemm.ee 17 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Good Lord why is it that back in 2008 every guy heard about a purple tie being fashionable and it's basically the only advice dudes act on to this day.

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 27 points 9 months ago

I'll keep wearing cheap black t-shirts and jeans until I die!

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 15 points 9 months ago

That's good enough

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 10 points 9 months ago

I've actually met that dude.

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 7 points 9 months ago

I should point out, I mean literally. He sang for the band Cop of Fire. I didn't just mean I've met people that dress like that as a joke.

[-] Great_Leader_Is_Dead@hexbear.net 19 points 9 months ago

I dress like John Fetterman most days

[-] ScrewdriverFactoryFactoryProvider@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Big Israel flag as a cape?

[-] Great_Leader_Is_Dead@hexbear.net 8 points 9 months ago

I got a bunch of free ones and don't know what to do with them, clothes are expensive

My style is the cheapest T shirts from Amazon and whatever running shorts I got for christmas last year.

When I need to look professional I wear the cheapest polo shirts from Amazon and a pair of motorcycle jeans.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 50 points 9 months ago

Reject fashion norms.

Embrace goblincore.

[-] BatsAreRats@hexbear.net 28 points 9 months ago

For real, fuck telling other people how to dress lmao. Cringe as hell behavior

[-] Timberknave@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago

B-but I need to be a conformist and bathe in the blood of bangladeshi women!

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 8 points 9 months ago

But if we stopped wearing "fast fashion" the planet might choke to death in plastic trash a little slower!

Sublimating my desire to be a woman into fashion, call me the faberge egg.

[-] MrPoopyButthole@lemm.ee 34 points 9 months ago

I say high tides raise all boats.

As a straight cis male, I still remember the day, at 19 years old, that a person I trusted told me I dressed like a clown.

It was devastating and changed my life for the better.

[-] Faresh@lemmy.ml 14 points 9 months ago

I would have taken that as a compliment. Don't see many people dressed as clowns.

Mrs. Frizzle-core.

[-] RedQuestionAsker2@hexbear.net 29 points 9 months ago

It took me literally years to figure out which women's clothing I look good in.

Wish I had someone to intervene. My wife was always supportive and never said anything negative, but now that it's in the past, she, too, admits it was awful.

[-] NotErisma@hexbear.net 28 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Me : morshupls [Internal fashion struggle session] meow-cactus

Also Me: I could just wear mom jeans blob-no-thoughts

[-] KittyBobo@hexbear.net 28 points 9 months ago

I mostly just wear a shirt with Pepe Le Pew on it unless it's a special occasion.

[-] Alch_Fox@hexbear.net 28 points 9 months ago

I wish I could figure out my style, but I’m so damn clueless sadness

Also hard to experiment with no money.

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 21 points 9 months ago

yeah.... there's some decent finds thrifting but even that adds up quick unless you're super lucky

[-] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

Any supportive friends or family you could maybe reach out to?

[-] Adkml@hexbear.net 19 points 9 months ago

Am I doing solidarity by also looking like a fucking dumbass all the time?

[-] Phish@hexbear.net 13 points 9 months ago

Most people don't know how to dress.

[-] usernamesaredifficul@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago

might be easier for trans men as no one really expects men to have any idea how to dress
